Hey all! Being new here, I thought perhaps I ought to introduce myself. So here goes:

Name's Regina. I'm a 23-year-old computer graphics technology student/digital artist/writer/musician. On the musical front, I've been singing since I was just a wee ickle tot. Started off in our little Baptist church, where I picked up my lasting love of bluegrass. Joined the school choir in 1st grade (and stuck around till I graduated). Picked up the clarinet in first grade, the piano a few years after that, and the saxaphone in high school. And now I'm working on the violin.

I started composing music not long after I got my piano--though, at the time, I didn't consider it "composing;" it was just "playing around." Back in high school I started toying with writing lyrics, but didn't take it too seriously as I seemed to wind up hating everything I wrote the very next day. I'm not sure if those songs actually sucked or if I was just being overly self-critical. But I digress...

After a bit of a vacation from musical life (sparked by the awful experience of being a music major at Ball State), I slowly made my way back. I picked up my instruments again, started practicing and playing and composing my little instrumental pieces. And I took another stab at writing lyrics. I'm not sure if it's the wisdom of age or just a gift from the muses, but over the last year--and especially the last month--the words have started to flow. I've built up a nice little collection of songs that I don't think are crap, and I'm working on composing keyboard accompaniments to those songs. And for the first time since that fateful year of college, I'm beginning to think I may actually have half a chance of making it somewhere in the music industry.

And that's why I'm here. And that was an incredibly long introduction--but a suitable one, for it is demonstrative of my tendency to ramble. Forgive me. I'm going now.

Hello all...I signed up yesterday, cheers!

I'm a blues-influenced rock artist and songwriter from Connecticut, just signed to an indie label deal with major distribution. I've been performing in some way or other musically since I was 11 and never thought I'd become a solo artist, but here I am. Tough running your own business in this industry climate, takes a lot longer to get to the next step, but I've kept moving forward and in the right direction, so it's all good.

Most bands I hear today do not inspire me. I love Velvet Revolver - they are a true rock and roll band with the right idea, and I am glad John Mayer made something happen, cause he's a true artist. I'm not limited in my musical tastes, but the choices are limited, so no wonder the majors are sucking wind.

It's up to us now to make our own gardens grow...thankfully man has created new and wondrous toys for us to play with...so let's rock!!!

Im just 18, been playin for a year, but i picked up very quickly and i take my music very seriously. I am a huge Nirvana fan. And actually the lead man of a Nirvana tribute band called Revana is my teacher. I dont know if anyone knows about Revana, especially because they are Canadian. lol. but they are amazing. Peace.

Howdy all. I am new to the site. Looking forward to hearing from some other FEMALE musicians if there are many out there somewhere. I think my neighbours are starting to wonder about me having all these men show up to jam all the time. LOL Recently relocated to the Durham Region in Ontario. Been actively involved with some projects including my first paying gig which has me 100% hooked and looking forward to more.
I love most music styles with the exception of disco and synthetic. Sorry better add Screamo to that list as well.

Would love to hear from other players, especially local ones.

Hey all. My name is Rob, I'm a recovering computer programmer. About to turn 51, hack amateur musician since I was 16 - guitar and keyboards and so-so vocals and a little harp. Mostly keyboards and so-so vocals these days. Been in a couple of garage bands over the years. Hoped the last one would evolve to competent bar band but never quite got there. Still hoping to be in a good bar band some time before I can't haul my shizzy around any more, but been having a hard time finding or forming a band in my area with folks at about my musical level and with similar goals. And I have a demanding day job so I'm part of the problem (can't always practice every week).

Anyway, didn't mean to gripe, just wanted to say hi, curious if there's anyone else out there not trying to get rich and famous but interested in playing for fun and the occasional tips. (And if you happen to have a band in the Livermore/Pleasanton/Dublin CA area that is maybe looking for a keyboard player, plz let me know. Or maybe you've got a couple of musicians interested in a jam and see where it goes? My garage is a possible practice site.)

Hi Everyone!

I'm Shane French from just outside Tampa, Florida. I'm here looking for a serious project to join.

I've been playing professionally for almost 20 years in Florida and mostly western Europe. I've toured with Florida bands Teer and Millenium, and more recently Circle II Circle and Jon Oliva's Pain, both spin-off projects of legendary metal band Savatage. I recently gained a full endorsement from Dean Guitars.

If anyone out there needs a serious touring guitarist in the US, Europe or beyond give me a shout.

Cheers,
Shane
