Hey all! Being new here, I thought perhaps I ought to introduce myself. So here goes:
Name's Regina. I'm a 23-year-old computer graphics technology student/digital artist/writer/musician. On the musical front, I've been singing since I was just a wee ickle tot. Started off in our little Baptist church, where I picked up my lasting love of bluegrass. Joined the school choir in 1st grade (and stuck around till I graduated). Picked up the clarinet in first grade, the piano a few years after that, and the saxaphone in high school. And now I'm working on the violin.
I started composing music not long after I got my piano--though, at the time, I didn't consider it "composing;" it was just "playing around." Back in high school I started toying with writing lyrics, but didn't take it too seriously as I seemed to wind up hating everything I wrote the very next day. I'm not sure if those songs actually sucked or if I was just being overly self-critical. But I digress...
After a bit of a vacation from musical life (sparked by the awful experience of being a music major at Ball State), I slowly made my way back. I picked up my instruments again, started practicing and playing and composing my little instrumental pieces. And I took another stab at writing lyrics. I'm not sure if it's the wisdom of age or just a gift from the muses, but over the last year--and especially the last month--the words have started to flow. I've built up a nice little collection of songs that I don't think are crap, and I'm working on composing keyboard accompaniments to those songs. And for the first time since that fateful year of college, I'm beginning to think I may actually have half a chance of making it somewhere in the music industry.
And that's why I'm here. And that was an incredibly long introduction--but a suitable one, for it is demonstrative of my tendency to ramble. Forgive me. I'm going now.
