First, I know things get personal here; I want you to know that I think if you and I were sitting down with our guitars in our hands and talking MUSIC that you and I would get along JUST FINE
What I take issue with here, Craig, is your rush to judgment. This is something I despise about people who affiliate themselves with organized religion.
Fair enough. The other comment "read your own posts" is not a real argument and is avoidance of providing actual evidence. This is more clear, and it appears you accept to some degree that you were merely insulting me.
As to the organized religion comment, well, I am not a big fan of organied religion. I am not your run-of-the-mill Christian. One of the Christians on here, has openly questioned my being a Christian, and in fact, has almost determined that I am NOT a Christian. Interestingly enough, it was somewhat over my assessment that many Christians have become idolators and WORSHIP the Bible as a god. I say that because God is the only thing I know of that can be "perfect" whereas books, no matter how inspired, cannot be perfect. Language itself is not a PERFECT medium for communication. It is merely the best most of us have. In suggesting that I would not be a Christian if I didn't believe the Bible was perfect, thereby "believing" every word of it, he is in fact, proving my point about the mistakes Christians make in elevating the bible to "god-status" as NOTHING in the Bible itself purports such a belief.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
I only have to believe in Jesus.
Scripture does not save anyone. God alone does.
The former position is idolatry.
In any event, there are other Christians here too, who question me being a follower of Jesus as well, just not openly.
I say that to say... If I am judged equally by agnostics and atheists as I am by other Christians, what does this say?
I am either a pretty bad person, because both God fearing people as well as atheists find common ground against me. Which.. it is nearly a Miracle in itself, that cooperation.
Or else...
Maybe I am bringing some truth to the table, or a new way of looking at things, that shakes them up and challenges BOTH parties?
At the least, you should appreciate that I may be worth investigating, because I am certainly not easily labelled.
Jesus had a way of pissing off just about everybody, and yet he was a very sacrificial and loving person, who practiced that love daily.
I believe I am in good company. I certainly do not yet love as Jesus loved, but I've got the "both sides of the aisle being pissed at me" thing down!
LOL
