Hi Glen.
Perhaps I did? I think things have changed a lot in all areas of life frankly. Many of the bands that we all grew up with, grew up with each other to some extent.

I do think you are right though. There is no loyalty these days but in the world of Music I think I can understand some portions of it when someone needs to leave on a promise.

My experience however is that promises don't last that long.
Keep well Dude.

ps. I'll call you this week if I can catch you.

You did a good thing. They weren't out to hang my nuts on a pole.
AND THEY ARE absolutely right! IF they were working for me and they f**k up big time ....
If I was in that position I guess I would expect the same.
JW and PHILBY are absolutely right, Loyalty don't mean sh*t.

I understand this is business and we all have to do what we have to do. As a band leader, I'm in search of a new lead guitarist. The old one is leaving me and taking a huge chunk of the setlist with him in lead vocals, but I understand. I've also fired guys, so it does go both ways.

That is a one in a million shot. To bad the kid will only and allways be remembered for being Steve Perry. I would rather be doing what most of the players are doing,,,, being themselves.

Not necessarily true though...

If the guitarist for Rush (Alex Lifeson) died tomorrow and they asked me to resemble him, play like him, etc..

I would be honored to do it, and it's not like everyone wouldn't know it's NOT him...

Or do you consider you band mates to be all that there is for you?

I'd like to add my personal experience on this. I have yet to earn my bachelor's degree because along with my husband, I chose to purchase a house. It takes money to buy a house and a full time job was offered to me in the performing arts department in a local school district. I took that job so that I could indeed help pay bills and put food on the table.

In a sense, that is exactly what I did although I would have rather had better offers or opportunities. When it comes to loyalty, loyalty to the family must come first. However, leaving a band or a music program is not turning your back on that part of your life. You have to keep communication and other doors open...so that you can walk back in if that should happen.

I continued composing, performing and teaching. I eventually acquired my bachelors degree in a nonconventional manner PLUS I am working towards my certification from the MTNA ( Music Teachers National Association ). I always watch for opening doors PLUS, I try to open doors for others.

An opening door might lead you to the basement, nevertheless it is an opening door and it might be the best way to get to the top.

The fact that you work in music is in itself awsome Mary.
To be able to follow a dream, if not exactly on the road we first imagine is a beautifull thing.
Answer the call.
When I see someone pass me speeding in a no passing zone or run a stop sign in front of me, I feel a calling to be a police office, so I can shoot them, er ah, well maybe it's good I am not a cop.

My calling is indeed in music and that is where I will always be...Thanks Sanshouheil. Sometimes it's possible to travel down 2 roads, perhaps even three....
