I have always loved the Bass. I almost always hear or listen most intently to the bass line. Frequently have the bass turned up too much in the ride as well.
To pick a favorite would be impossible. I prolly should have stayed with the bass as my instrument of choice.
But my man Eric, well let me just say I would not be trying to out play that man, so I'll stick with six.

Yeah, "Closer To Home" from GFR, was a good one.

The bass lines I like best, though, are the ones I write for originals...LOL

I know - I gotta big head.

I appeciate all the feedback. I agree with all Ive heard and did not know so far and will try to pick them up. Im with pocket on the groove thing . Thats allways been my style trying to hold the rhythym and timing down not having a drummer most times. But I want to put a lot more positive experience to work in our original stuff and figure picking up a few progressions from the best would help. A lot of guitar players who play bass screw up the bass lines so bad its hard to play with. Thats the reason Ive been real picky about the differences between the two instruments and being a decent guitar player sure dont mean you can play bass. A good guitar player appreciates a good bass it can make or break any band. Weve got a good gig to play this fri evening , Ive found a really good guy to help me learn some new stuff, fairly cheap, I ordered a new recording mixer and software, work has been off about 75%, AND :D

Coming from guitar to bass, I was often told that I overplayed. It worked well in a 3-piece situation, though. I had to alter things a lot when I played in a larger band, & back off on the counterpoint runs & triplets & such. I still manage to keep fairly "busy" these days, but I make if fit better as I play more. My style is kinda unique, I guess, cuz drummers & guitarists often get caught up in the things I do, which results in some neat doubling effects sometimes that they tell me they really like, but it takes them a little while to understand the way I attack the thing.

I love your songs Phill its a lot like some of what we do in our orignals. I hope I can find some decent recordings from past jams to post soon. The few Ive posted dont show anything as a lot are very old and one was wrote the same day we picked up our new drummer and sounds like it. Were trying to pull away from being an acoustic style band to Alternative. We have 4 different writers in our group with about 125 songs together, so we dont play a lot of covers.
