Congrats Paul!!!! I will be watching for you!

That six weeks of waiting is going to be a pain. Will they let you know if you don't make it? Seems like they have to.

But you will make it! I have faith in you. 8)

It will be a tough wait. They don't let you know if you didn't make it. I feel relly good though. They took my picture and I only saw one other guy get his picture taken. Plus they gave me about 8 minutes when they said it was only 1.5 minutes. Plus nobody looked like me, and I had my green guitar and nobody did my looping act that I know of. I'm optimistic.
thanks!

Hey Paul, congratulation for the audition on AGT. I's be really disppointed if you don't get picked while watching some dude joggling, reading you account it sounds all went well.

I think you're gonna make it, like you said in addition of showing you talent you provide an image as well (coverall)

You gonna get picked good luck on your next phase.

I walked in and stood on a wooden tiled square about 12' x 12' . The scout asked what I would like to do. I told him that time wouldn't allow me to do what I really wanted to do which was live looping ....... like this.........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H80n2kv_ ... annel_page

I quickly explained what looping was and how I do it. I spoke fast both because of my nerves and because I knew my time was short. I wanted to respect their time as well. I told him I would like to show him the DVD that I had brought with videos of that performance, but that I'd also like to play and sing live to show my voice in person. Even though I had received an email form AGT stating that we only had 1.5 minutes he said I could do both! SWEET! I belted out the first verse and chorus of The Commodores "Easy". I was really happy with and proud of the performance. It showed my dynamics range and tone. So far so good! Then I walked over with the dvd. He popped it in. He played the 1.5 minute edited down version of "Wicked game" Then he asked for the longer version!! He was able to see what it is exactly that I do.

Neanderpaul,
I put your Isaak cover in my you-tube favorites. I really do get a kick out of watching it.

I'm not usually one to nit pick over miner details, but , in the interest of constructive criticism, I believe the girl back up vocal would be better if you played the melody on guitar. (you already have it in your hands, so why not go for it)

Once again,
great job

Paul,
If I recall the line correctly, in the chorus.....
..."that girl is only gonna break your heart"

In recent years, I have come to appreciate good covers whereby the singer \ arranger evoked "poetic licence to fit the aesthetics of his\her own arrangement.

My son has recently pointed out that sometimes, in live performance, I am guilty of singing harmony parts that seem inappropriate for the lead vocalist. This obviously makes it awkward for anyone attempting backup vocals! I have come to realize that the reason I have been guilty of this, is simply a "knee-jerk reaction to lack of faith in the other singer, OR an unreasonable feeling that the musical element MUST be included in the song, which usually has the effect of screwing up the performance!

Regarding your arrangement, I feel that the second vocal part seems awkward being sung by the lead . Since you are obviously "backing yourself up", it occurred to me that, since you already have a free guitar in your hands, you could PLAY the back up melody line and the whole thing might "flow" better.

Just a matter of opinion on my part.
I still very much like what you do with the song for the most part.

Alright J. On the first chorus it is a little cramped for lack of a better word. On the second chorus I do 6 vocal parts in 3 8 second loops so I'm real attached to the 2 sets of three part harmonies. I really like the idea of playing the backing vocal part (this love is only gonna break your heart) with guitar. great idea. thanks so much for taking the time to breack it down and think of ways for me to improve it. It means a lot especially coming from somebody with your talent and experience. I actually figured out a way to shorten it too. If I can sit down at the kit while playing the bass I could actually start the drums immediately after the bass instead of taking and 8 second loop to go from bass to drums. I'm always looking for ways to refine and tighten each looped song. It's very satisfying when I can figure out a way to make them shorter. Loops are long by default. It's hard to find ways to keep them to a reasonable length without removing verses or choruses.

2 weeks in , 4 weeks to wait. this is torture. I usually put it out of my mind. But tonight another person asked so it's on my brain. Last night I plotted out my 2 week southeast loopty loop tour from VA to TX and back.
