Mexico. 5-string was better than the 4, but strings to close on the 5. seen alot of 4-strings with a bad 'A' string, couldnt get good tunning. String tone uneven. I think Ibenez is a better bass at half the price. They at least use a wider guage of spaceing the strings on their 5s. Hope SWR keeps quality with Fender.
Yea for me for me I found the opposite the 5 sucked and the 4s played better and their necks warped less. It comes down to the mfg process. It seems like Fenders is a bit lose on the tolerances so it's the luck of the drawn on getting a great bass. The G&Ls and music mans seem to be more consistent.
I used to pooh-pooh Ibeenhad basses but then I got a cheapie bolt on neck one to take to the EU and dam if that bass didn't kick butt. The neck was not this bloated thing but a nice and slim and the action was great. For the value I'd say Ibenez bass are worth it. Though I'd probably buy the USA made Carvin.
