Not necessarily. And I like sharing opinions, since it helps me affirm and adjust my own when others are convincing enough. Granted, there are certainly a whole lot of idiots on the internet, but there's an intelligent and witty population in there, too.

One does not have to pass judgement ( to damn or forgive ) in order to recognise the effects of sin in ones life or that of his brother.
To be Judge is the realm of God alone.

Yeah but we all do don't we? Otherwise why would people post songs up for comment and >>> judgment?

I guess that's the field of the critic but isn't he just so?

However, there is a pretty distinct difference between constructive criticism and judging for self-betterment.

Absolutely...There's a difference between judging someone for their race or gender, and giving constructive criticism to help better someone and improve their talents.

Here's an Bandmix example:

Judgment - "I listened to your demo, and THIS is why women shouldn't sing! You suck!"

Constructive Criticism - "I listened to your demos, and although they could have been a lot better, you have potential. Keep practicing those high notes, and keep up the good work."

See? Big difference

This is a subject of personal preference, why would you even post this subject on a musical forum?

One thing Ive learned on this site is that Religion and Music dont mix well.

I think everyone on here has their own spiritual beliefs and should be respected for their own views. That doesnt make anyones beliefs any more "RIGHT" than the next person it just means we all have our own views.

For a number of years I was as devote as anyone I know, then life smacked me in the face with a lot of different things that I didnt think a loving and caring GOD would hit me with. Im not as close to my GOD as I should be, but Im a work in progress and live day to day. To me that means having basic respect for others, I didnt say love I said respect.

I hope everyone calms down on this subject with it being the Christmas season. We should all respect and love each other during this time of year. If you chose not to have GOD in your life then that is your decision and I respect that. If you chose to have GOD in your life then I respect that also. Im way to dumb an individual to judge anyones views, but I do love listening to music of all sorts, so this being a music site whay dont we get back to the spirit of this site.

Merry Christmas and Keep Rockin!

That's to be said of a lot of online communities. You'll come across a lot of stubborn individuals out there. That's the very principle of believing in and of itself, don't you think? To believe something is in fact to "know" or at least think that you are right. However, the tricky part of believing is understanding that there are two (or much more often more) sides to every story. And that's where respecting others comes in. You really hit the nail on the head with that. You call yourself unintelligent, but I for one think that that's a very wise yet difficult conclusion to come to in this day and age.

As for derailing the "purpose" of the forum itself, I choose to politely disagree with you. I happen to very much enjoy discussions like these, where everyone puts forth his or her opinions. Like so many others, I like to base the material I write lyrically on conflictual issues, be they faith-based, philosophical or otherwise. Getting different and new viewpoints on this helps make the stories of my songs more alive and real. Further, I'd like to propose that this kind of discussion is also healthful to the members, as well. Through debating the difficult issues, sooner or later everyone learns something, including how to respect others, and I've learned through experience that that's just as important in an online community as it is in person.

Finally, I'd also like to think that there was a constructive result here. If there was not, I sincerely apologize for fanning any flames of hatred that have been kindled since before my membership here. I can completely understand your desire to remain silent, but I think that the ridiculous amount of political correctness that has pervaded into our culture has glazed over our eyes. The "to each his own" philosophy is great to a certain extent, but it's taken to the extreme when one man ignores his brother for fear of offending him. If the discussion has to end at this point, that's totally fine by me. Again, I'm sorry if I've done something wrong by trying to incite an intelligent discussion, or if I've offended anyone in any way. Thanks for your responses, everyone.

Obviously that was tl;dr for you then, haha. I'm not in any way trying to fight with anyone. There are obviously things I don't understand that have gone on in the past, so once again, I apologize.
