I dunno bout Bob, but he's one of my very favorite blues rock guitarists, so this was damn sweet. I think I've seen it before, but who cares.

He makes it look easy and fun, but the way he holds his instrument tells that the countless hours of practice that have made his instruments more familiar than his car have paid off in a big way. The fact that he continues to play despite his years gives hope to late starters, like me. I've been reading forums silently for awhile, trying to soak up all the information and expertise. I know that somewhere in all this written code, one of you gents gave an explanation about the simplist way for a technology-challenged beginner to add songs and sound to their profile, but I can't find it Could you give me an update??? I bumped it for you, so go check it out. If you run into problems, someone is bound to help ya out.

Concerning the video,
I performed Freddie Kings "The Stumble" many times over the years accompanying a whole lot of good guitar playes. I also heard a lot of good recordings of it. I always regarded the Bluesbreakers 1966 version featuring Peter Green as the definitive version. I must admit, this Gary Moore version really did blow me away!

Blues is like soccer, Anyone can play, but there is no limit to how good you can do it! I now regard Moore as the "Pele" of The Stumble!

Thanks Howlin. If you want to see who wrote The Stumble just go on Youtube and search for Freedie King. Moore is a fine guitarist but the real master of all blues guitarists IMO is Freddie. I have performed many of Freddie's tunes in various bands over the years including The Stumble. By the way I still fish this time of year. There's a heated enclosed dock at the marina at Melverne Lake, Kansas which is a really good spot for crappie. I usually go on a weekend and park my butt by the wood burning stove and fish for hours, even when it's below freezing outside. Later...

I'm seeing more and more the term blues rock. I'm not really sure what that means. Is it bluesy rock or rocky blues? When I play with a guitarist for the first time I can tell instantly if he's a blues guitarist or a rock guitarist. There's a lot of rock guitarists who dabble in blues, there's a lot of rock guitarists who have never played in a blues band but always wanted to. IMO blues and rock are different from each other. Sometimes they blend together, but I believe they are always distinguishable from each other. I can't define the difference between a blues guitarist and a rock guitarist. It's an emotional thing almost. A real blues guitarist plays with more emotion and a real rock guitarist plays more mechanically. To me it's very rare that a guitarist is so well rounded he can be a top blues guitarist AND a top rock guitarist AT THE SAME TIME. Getting back to the term blues rock, I've been contacted in the last few years by younger guitarists who classify some bands and musicians as blues artists. The other evening I was contacted by somebody to play in his new blues band. I asked him what covers he was doing. He said Tom Petty, Dylan, AC/DC, etc. In his mind those artists are blues rock artists. I hate to inform him but those are NOT blues artists in any way, shape or form. Again I don't understand the term blues rock, it's meaningless to me.

I believe that often rock that is based on the various blues chord progressions and blues key fingerings is called or considered
"rockin blues".
I dont claim to be a blues player, yet the slower paced leads I play using a lot of sustained notes, bends, hammers, and vibrato some times get called "blusey" or "rock blues". In some of the songs I play strictly off of the blues key progressions.
To my way of seeing it the "blues" is one of the key roots of rock music. Therefore a total seperation of the two would be impossable.

The British blues of the 60's evolved the blues into a more rock like form. I consider myself a blues rocker who happens to like most all other forms of music.

I enjoy listening to Robert Johnson, Muddy, Skip and Elmore James, Freddie, B.B. and Albert King as much as Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Clapton, or Rory Gallagher. I'm not a purest, however, and it's all great music!
