Mark threw me a nice meaty bone of a Gypsy Jazz track, arranging a really cool piece. I then did a classical treatment on it w/ 2 guitars and a bass so this is a neo-classical/jazz hybrid #. All of my parts are improvised and not written out (therefore you get the beta version). I didn't get all of the harmonies and counterpoint exactly where I wanted but what the hell, we don't ever talk about music so who cares.

Thanks to Mark for sharing his talents!!

you're most welcome. and thank YOU for putting in time, thought, and your talent to mess w it!

as far as me "arranging" anything.....my only contribution was to strum some chords on my Paris Swing GC-42 gtr!

i know that after you jumped me for my last comments (critique) of one of your tunes, i promised not to weigh in again w any criticisms...constructive or otherwise, but i can't help myself. i yam what i yam and gotta be me....an outspoken yahoo!

ok, here goes...you've got some cool things going on there. i love how the bass line moves both down and then up. nice. and some of the gtr melodies are very cool even though they don't always "make the changes". but for MY tastes...and this is highly subjective stuff here....it's a little too congested for me.

and for my money (of which i've spent none) i think perhaps it might flow a little better w some more space, as my rhythm gtr does have a good amount of chord changes and movement.

there's my (unsolicited) two cents. i'll await hearing from your attorney!

I have one answer to this. Go listen to Bach's 'Fugue in C minor' and get back w/ me. K?? :D

Now i see the problem.

Well, that "Previous Offense" tune is in the key of Dm. AHA! THAT must be why it sounds cluttered to me! :D

No.

That track I was listening to was sh*t. I can't continue to examine that Volbeat band. It hurts my soul. They make Bon Jovi seem like Hell's Angels.

To contrast, here's the new Melvins tune with 3 bass players and almost no guitar added. Let it fly against the wall. See what sticks. Tchad Blake to the max, jook. 8)

Hey Schmeddy-

Is this Mike Patton w/ Buzz and Dale??

No. It's Mike Kunka, the singer/ bass player from Godheadsilo. They're a sludgy bass/ drums duo out of Fargo. The album was started in about '99 but got shelved until now.
In other exciting Melvins news, they were trending on Facebook this week for their Beatles cover/ album/ upcoming tour! I'm excited! :D

That album, Raw Power was the one that the band screwed up the engineering/ production so royally. Iggy brought it to David Bowie and said we need to mix this today or the record company takes it to some producer we don't like or trust. When Bowie checked it out, the whole band was on one track, another track for vocals and a third track for lead guitar. He couldn't believe with up to 24 tracks available on the tape they only used the 3. The band's first two albums sound better, but Raw Power has a kinetic energy from the beginning to the end that that's unbelievable.
