Lemme see if I can do this with the best of intentions...

Every song but one of those in your listing was in the same key (C#). Was that intentional? I would experiment with other keys (they have different energies).

The lyrics and music, while heavy and tight, didn't strike me as particularly inspired. See I think we are beyond being particularly impressed with volume and distortion by now - those bounds have been pretty much breached. What impresses me is a clarity and originality of sound, a cleverness and truth in lyrics. Something that makes the piece stand out, that you would go the extra mile to slap it on a CD or iPod. What I heard was some guys having fun making big noise - which is not such a bad thing in and of itself, but when it comes to making a larger impression on the world, I'd say probably not.

My suggestion. Tune all your instruments to a different key. Commit to writing songs only about...say.....old buildings in a five mile radius. See what happens.

I Agree. More noise. Can't dance. No Melody. Same Key. No Inspiration.
Sounds like 100 other groups that are already past the times. Get together with a keyboard player that can put some melody in your tunes.

Although the c sharp continuum is getting crowded, I thought it was better than some of the other schwag on this site.

It's all about opinion.

BTS, Just got around to really givin your stuff the ear.I think HowlinJ said it right. Maybe more conviction on the vocals. More inflection and emphisis would go a long way to blending the total feel of the tunes. Also cant really hear the drummers presence in the recording I,m having the same problem. I bet it sounds much richer Live. I didnt like" What you Fear" : "Cleopatra's Lament" is a good tune. and "Suckerpunch" has good drive. I liked "Drug of Choice" as well. I really dont consider myself a "musician" more just a guy who loves to play his guitar and learn. But I think Irminsul is onto something. Perhaps a different key / feel would work better on some of these tunes. At any rate I would prefer to listen to most of these guys postings as compared to a lot of what I get on the radio these days. Even the ones that are not razor sharp yet, They have heart and soul. Real grass roots of music. Good music in my opinion is palpable.

I have 7 guitars and not one of them is in the same key.

I prefer E flat. The rest is just something to keep me amused/ keep it new.

I stay in standard, but if I am writing I go into Drop B or Drop D, depending on the sound I am looking for, if I want more melodic it is C#.

My question is what is your feedback on your songs?
