Are there any other websites out there similar to this one, but one where it's much easier to connect with guys around my age in Baton Rouge who play music for enjoyment (rather than connecting with gigging and touring musicians) and who are looking for some good solid friendships?

Currently, I'm trying to find guys around my age who are more into playing electronic music, (e.g. Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment)and can help me expand my sound and move beyond playing covers of popular songs.

This site isn't really doing anything for me, just like the other two sites I've tried (Craigslist and Baton Rouge Rocks) which attracted the same types, plus stuck up musicians.

I haven't found any "Stuck up" musicians here. I think it is more in how you approach people that makes the difference, just like at every other forum.

Good luck with your search. :)

I wasn't referring to the people on this site when I said "stuck up" musicians. I was referring to LOCAL musicians in my area, who are more into heavy metal, hard rock, and classic rock, and who consider electronic dance-pop, and the softer side of modern rock to be crappy music.

So, someone please help me find something better, and let's take a little time to discuss your experience on the site, so I'll be able to make smarter decisions on whether to try the site or not.

I would consider checking out some music venues in Baton Rouge, but I don't know of any where pop and soft rock music is more popularly played. And on top of that, I'm not the kind of guy who likes to go to bars and clubs regularly. Churches are also not appropriate for the kind of music I play because a lot of the artists I cover are secular, and some are contraversial, like Madonna.

Be nice, guys. This isn't the right time to joke around or pick on someone. I'm actually trying to LEARN about some better website to try so I can leave this site.

I am not trying to annoy anyone in any shape or form. If someone is confused about something or is annoyed, talk to me about it and I will be glad to help clear up the simple missunderstanding.

There is no better website. But if there were, why would they want you there? :) You didn't offer anything here.

Why are you being RUDE? And what do you mean, "I didn't offer anything here?" I have a lot of to offer, and the main thing is friendship. I am NOT on these sites looking for work.

And as I said, BE NICE. STOP coming to my posts to make fun of me, or to joke around.

I am trying to reach smarter individuals who I can have intelligent conversations with and who will take me seriously, and who I can talk to to learn about some better websites. By that, I mean one where I have a better chance of finding more guys in their 20s who have a passion for playing pop and soft rock music and who only do it for fun, are solid musicuians, but are not looking for work, but are simply looking for friends to just spend some quality time together.

Why do you take offense to that? The reason why I want to leave this site is because this site doesn't allow members to contact each other for free, and my profile is NOT reaching anyone promising, due to the fact that most people on this site are looking for work, while I'm looking for friends.

I'm not trashing this site, and I am definetely above using fourms and chats to make fun of people, to start arguments or to just joke around.

Ok. I understand now that you are too cheap or that you can't afford the fee. However, why should Bandmix give away information that could help them fund this site? I don't have a pay account because I am not searching for musicians for a project, but if I were, I suppose that paying so that I could contact others would be a good start.

If you want to get around that, Google Bandmix local musicians... then write to each one in your area that has contact information. But you have not posted any music... don't suppose you have heard that before on this forum. So why or how would anyone know your abilities? Certainly that would be a starting point for a serious musician, even if only for collaborating on the Internet.

I DO have some music up, you can find it under "Vidoes". It's just ONE song though. I have a few more songs I can play though (Like A Prayer by Madonna, Bad Romance by Lady Gaga, Don't Mean Nothing by Richard Marx, Live To Tell by Madonna) Of course, that's not helping much, since not a lot of guys like that kind of music or are familar with that kind of music. I don't have any knowledge of how to record. That video was recorded by my music teacher. Yes, I'm still taking lessons, but the lessons are more advanced, because I already took lessons to learn the basics as a kid.

Second, I'm not trying to reach the serious musicians who are eager to get out and perfom or the career minded musicians.

And again, sir, you are being extremely rude, and describing me as cheap just because I don't want to waste money on a site that itself isn't frequented by the type of musicians I'm trying to reach. And even free sites that I've tried in the past (Craigslist, and Baton Rouge Rocks) weren't all that great either. My request STILL attracted individuals who hated the pop and soft rock music style, and who were ALREADY pursuing a career in music or ALREADY busy in other bands.

Another thing I'm tired of is people thinking Google is the answer to everything. Talking to other people who share your music interests and getting feedback from other people can also be a useful way to learn about what's out there.

And also I do not want to write to just anyone on Bandmix who's in my area, because a LOT of the active musicians in my area play heavy metal, hard rock, and classic rock and are ALREADY in major bands and busy with other music projects. Also a lot of those musicians are stuck up as well. They will instantly bash my music and try to convince me to do what they do.

Due to that, I need help finding a better website. One where I can much more easily connect with likeable individuals closer to my age, and who like playing pop and soft rock music purely for enjoyment and are looking for good friends, and are not part of the active local music community.

Clifford,

The problem you are running into is that you are appealing to folks that really can't help you.

They are musicians who are where they want to be and most do seem to be out of your age range (sorry about that, you all look young to me..LOL!)

I am on three boards, but they are songwriting boards, you do not do original music, so I can't help you there either.

But, how did I find where I needed to be? I did a lot of internet searching to find what I was looking for. I appreciate that you are trying to make some connections to find a more appropriate place, but I do think you are barking up the wrong tree on this forum.

Why not go to a local music store and talk to the young folks that work there who sell the very instrument you play...maybe they would have some ideas.

Call some keyboard instructors, take some lessons and start making connections that way.

Get on Youtube and find other videos like yours and reach out to those folks and ask your questions, Youtube members can e-mail each other.

Get on Reverbnation and find others in your area and send them a message, you can contact others there through e-mail if you are both members and if the other person agrees to "fan" you.

You really need to be more creative in your thinking and playing Clifford, try to channel your efforts in a better way and start looking at things differently, you may find music and friends and less insults, they are only coming after you because of a lack of respect and that isn't all their fault you know, they already know where they belong, but I am sure if you want it bad enough, you can make it happen, but it isn't going to happen in this forum.

That is just my opinion, and good luck to you, I hope you figure out what you are looking for.

Tammy
