My granddaughter has similar issues. They said she was incorrigible at the stinking public school.

but we got her into our Lutheran school and while it has been a rocky ride it is working.

She just can't separate considering doing something and actually doing it - gets very scary when interrupted at that. No point going into details but I worry that she'll never have the kind of life a little girl should have.

I told her sister once that God loves everybody. She replied, "I don't think he loves Bethany..." Probably the most heartbreaking single sentence I've ever heard. Not true of course, but it drove a knife into my guts. Since her sister is only four I could understand why it might seem that way to her.

the bottom line is we love 'em and do our best to give them something approaching a normal life.

My 11-year old is autistic.

My 4 year old will get his diagnosis this summer

My oldest son died of Leukemia at the age of 7.

I spent some time head-banging on what caused it and beating myself and society up, but that is a waste of time, there are no answers that are conclusive or that can be proven.

What is important is getting your child diagnosed as soon as possible and getting them with a caring and supportive environment where they will excell and help them learn coping skills and even, possibly improve.

My son was non-verbal when he was diagnosed with weak muscle tone, he couldn't even climb the stairs at the age of 3. Today, he is verbal and in fifth grade and competes in Special Olympics where he not only got a gold medal in the turbo javelin, but made the cover of the NH Special Olympics newsletter......YEAH!

I have learned a lot on my journey. The brain needs stimulated along with the body, the heavy speech and behavioral therapies along with heavey occupational and physical therapies has made a HUGE difference in my child's development. Of course, all children and their special needs are different.

They teach us more than we will ever teach them. AT Special Olympics Basketball in one of the final rounds, my son got frustrated with a girl on the other team, she knew he was good and made it so he couldn't get the ball....funny thing was that her special needs were more severe than his...when the game was over, she sought him out and hugged him and told him it was okay, more humanity than most high functioning folks if you ask me.

If anyone wants to change their world, go attend Special Olympics and watch some amazing people and their parents, you won't find pity parties there, just "CAN DO" atititudes and solutions and empowerment.

YOU are your child's advocate, you will make the difference in their lives.

and as for GOD and his love......believe me, I have been to that and back with losing a child........

GOD put special children on earth to help us to learn to love again, to learn what is important and how to become better people. They are the angels on earth.

I wish you all strength in your journeys, I would be happy to give you any advice I can that I have learned, but I do stress that your focus needs to be on early intervention and not on "WHY"...you will get more from early intervention....I promise.......

Paper Dog - You have a good point, and one I've thought on. Lots of people have had no problem, or seemingly, like me. I got the same vaccinations in the early 60's, I have a high IQ, I've been able to learn to be a machinist, mechanic (small and large engines), optical repair technician, computer repair, almost every instrument you can think of, photographer, some electronics, guitar and amp maintenance and repair and I'm sure I missed a few things.

But...short term memory has always been a problem, since long before I knew what a joint was, half the time I can't think straight and I'm not sure I can blame it on that little guitar player in my head that won't shot down, and I'd be willing to bet in a few more years, if I live that long, I'll be looking at Alzheimers.

That's the one that makes me tend to think mercury is more than just an issue related to things like Autism, both were unheard of until these vaccinations had been used for a few years. (Senility is not the same)

Nothing is conclusive, but from what I looked up about mercury a few years ago, I have to seriously question it. That was basically chance, my father wanted to go fishing in a lake with mercury warning sings up, I refused and he threw a fit so I looked it up. Spent 2 weeks reading long articles about mercury. Where it comes from, what it does,m how it becomes more concentrated the higher up the food chain you go...it was scary. The primary damage to humans is brain damage or disfunction. Memory loss, actual damage to the brain, in extreme cases people can go outright crazy.

So, when I saw hints that it might be related I started to think that over and compare it to the facts about mercury, and it seems to fit.

Other things could well be related, adding to the problem, especially nutritional deficiencies. The "food" sold at the grocery store is so highly processed it has literally no nutritional value, and what is supposedly there is nothing but chemicals. Corn, for example, is white after processing, so they have to use food coloring just to make it look like corn again. Taste is gone so they use chemicals to make it taste like corn again. Vitamins and minerals are gone so more chemicals.

The same happens if you grow your own, most people over cook things so most of the nutritional value is gone when it hits the table. As far as corn goes, when I can grow my own it never reaches maturity, I can think of very few things I like more than a handful of baby ears of corn the size of your little finger right off the plant. Ditto for broccoli, asparagus, tomatoes, carrots...well, tomatoes have to be ripe, but uncooked is best.

Virtually everything n the grocery store is so loaded down with chemicals you should never touch it. Especially the huge name brands. I can't even name them, I could be sued for it if they happen to see this. But if you see it advertised on TV, don't touch it, it's loaded up with chemicals. It's certainly unhealthy, and most likely poisonous. Commercially processed food I think is the number one cause of cancer. Most also contain MSG. Check the labels, and look it up, they have over a dozen trade names for MSG they use now since a lot of people quit buying anything with MSG after it was found to be related to several serious diseases and I think cancer too. (I'm not sure about cancer and don't have time to look it up, but it's not hard to use google). But it's highly addicting, and they want you to buy more, so they still use MSG but call it something else.

So I'm pretty sure mercury may not cause it alone, it has a lot of help from other things we eat, and use on a regular basis like suntan lotions, but I'm pretty sure mercury is the root cause. Suntan lotion??? Look at the ingredients. All that crap is absorbed into your skin. My favorite rule is if I can't pronounce it, I don't want it in or on my body. I'll have to do some digging later, it's time to be off to work. There's more...lots more.
