Many thanks to those posting here. Very very good "thought food" and perspectives. Also very telling as to the quality of the posters ... no name calling, insults etc. just well stated and put forth in an intelligent manner.
As PaperDog comments to Etu about "proselytizing" ... :scoffed at " and such ... I have found that virtually anyone who actually lives their life in a spiritual manner and in accordance to that which they believe ... and are not afraid to state or debate their beliefs.... seem to be quite often persecuted, criticized and often hurt or murdered by others who for some inexplicably based reason feel they have the "real answer", "correct belief" and the "Right or Duty" to perpetrate all manner of atrocity ?
Yod ... your Leviticus quotes I have found to be very volatile in "coffee speak" especially with some of the Jewish people I have spoken with. It always seems to lead to an intense reaction and debates (at times physical) between "Zionists" and Traditionalists in the Jewish Religion. These have all led me to believe that "Zionists" are truly in control of the area of land taken from Palestine by the British. The quest for rebuilding the temple and the history of Gog and MaGog.
Etu ...well stated re Gilgamesh ... my English Teacher would be proud of you. The "idea of god" seems to always be in opposition with "the definition of God". Most seem only to agree only on the existence of something that exists beyond physical death and this is somehow always tied in with the idea or concept of god which in turn is almost always used to explain virtually "everything". The one thing that is seldom mentioned in reality and history is that the entire god concept has always has been used by a select few to control a not so select few. Now at this moment there is a huge effort to abolish the god concept and replace it with government ... one world government.
PaperDog ... I think you are constantly demonstrating that you are well on your way in spiritual evolution. Slacker G ... your evaluations always show great wisdom and you pot it quite simply in respect to yourself... well stated I feel. Yourself and PaperDog... evolution wise, humour wise, tolerance wise, critical thought wise ... well your posts are always much appreciated at least by myself ... on any thread. Etu you are in a catagory by yourself but nonetheless much appreciated as well.
The majority of the world are so in number only ... my thoughts.
JCP61 ... I always liked that quote by "Honest Abe". It can be taken in so many ways. It reminds me of Mark Twain in a way.
I really do not think that there is a "prize" at the end of one's physical existence. PaperDog and Etu ... between what you both say is where I find myself quite often. This life to me is a circle as is the next ... another circle. Often "your circle" intersects "another circle". Often "your circle" intersects "another's circle". In the case of myself and my wife our circles have become one circle ... there is nothing more binding in this existence I believe. If I were to define a "prize" I would have to say it is evolution ... not in the Darwinian sense. To complete one's circle and then be able to evolve into the next which is "higher" if you were successful in the previous ...that is the prize I suppose. Of course this can be applied to many spiritual beliefs, each who have their own set of rules in the "Uncle Wiggely" game of life ... death ... rebirth. Ta
