Okay . We corrected the issue... (Taking and udsing all you guyzz'es wisdom and advice ... :) ...

1) For starters: We grabbed an SM57 Mic, (which George uses primarily for guitars), and a Rode NT1 Mic, (which he uses primarily for vocals and/or acoustic guitars). The NT produces a brighter sound while the 57 is more beefy.

2) We took my Mustang II amp and sat it atop a chair, then we posted the two mics center, up to and an inch away from the speaker in the amp. (Each slightly angled)

3) We did a sound check and decided to put some fangs into the volume. Beforehand, I had been recording with the amp volume (master) at about level 4. But this time, we brought it up to 6-7 (I must be a wuss, cause that is really loud for my ears) ,
On my Gretsch, I ramped up the volumes as well.

4) We junctioned a cable from the booth to the sound room...(connecting to my amp) so I could play guitar from inside the booth) Think of it like taking xrays, where the raw source is painful and you need the protection behind the shield..

The resulting track, in terms of sound and texture was very satisfactory... I was able to produce a crisp, over-driven texture in the lead guitar... (And It got rid of the boxy, clunker sound I had been facing earlier)

Despite our technical conquest... It cannot hide the fact that I suck... as a lead guitarist...

I can accept that for now... The song is almost done, (I'll redo the track for cleaner transitions later) In the meantime, I have posted a WIP copy on my profile... She Dont Love Me Anymore Note the acoustic version of the song as well

You obviously mad a few major mistakes Dawg.
1. The chair you place your amp on is very important. Was it leather or cane?
2. If you do not place your human body in the same room you are screaming your amp from you will never get a true recording.
3. That is the the same as trying to get a drummer to play from the recording center, instead of on the drum set.
4. You don't suck as a lead guitarist.

Just busting Dawg,,,, Smile, you are growing.

It may have been linoleum...

Normally I would agree... But My hearing cant take it... The playing was real, the amp was real, just a few degrees of separation between me and the Nuclear warhead... I thought about throwing my alien body in there ;)

Terry Bozzio's set is so big that Guitar Center had to rent space to him so he could play at our Coliseum .... ;P

Yes I do... But I'll take all the compliments I can get :)

I liked this new song a lot.

8)

your riffs are just fine for this tune, a little stiff perhaps, but that would change in the live setting.
I'd be proud to sit in an wail out a few sharps and flats.

Thanks JC :).

For Final mixes, I will attempt to refine the rigidity... I did tend to clip the continuity as I was trying to find my way around for the right rests and delays.

Sounds much better Dog. Yay! 2 suggestions though...

1. Get in the room with that amp. Even if you need earplugs, there is an interaction between speaker, strings and tonewoods that just makes everything on electric guitar sound great.

2. Don't let JCP anywhere near this song. It calls for pentatonic heaven which you clearly demonstrated. JCP doesn't feel constrained by silly things such as scales or key signatures and he would likely get his Stravinsky stank all over it. :P

Maybe get some of those earplugs that cut off the decibels at a certain threshold, instead of the cheap kind the just plug up the ears.

Theres nothing like a slight breeze on your balls when you are wailing away. 8)
