I used to write commentary for LewRockwell.com - the early days. Cranked out 70 some columns before I found myself boring myself! The Waco thing is my favorite. Otherwise...some good, some bad. Just got tired of it.

Rockwell used to be Ron Paul's chief of staff. I learned a lot working with him and I wrote for his print journal, the "Rocikwell Rothbard Report." I agree with him at about a 87% level. Got spiked twice and agreed to disagree once.
Ron Paul is a man. Not like the rest of 'em. i'm real sick of hearing he's a nutcase. Nobody ever says, 'I disagree with him on point a or b.' Because they wouldn't dare.
Those discussions must NOT be had.

Mike, you are quite the writer...

Really like your style... The Waco piece... (The peace officer..) and the piece "Remembering a Soldier" ....got me thinking...
I almost got my ass kicked a few months ago by a marine at a pub that I frequent... He served 4 tours in Afghanistan.
He proudly boasted a lineage of military members in his family. I asked him if he considered himself a real "warrior"...and he got all offended...He then lectured me on how the military is a business...and how my ideals don't mean sh*t... So, Then I asked him how many people he killed for the business...He got more offended. Then I asked why he got offended... He said "we don't think about what happens over there."
I told him, that while no do doubt, he served with valor, bravery and brought credit upon himself and the US marines, my question still stood... 'Did he think he was a real warrior?' He started to get vulgar with me, started degrading my role in the Navy, etc... It got so bad...I had to get up from the table, and leave.
Next day he wrote me an email, apologizing... I told him, no worries...but my question about being a warrior still stood.. I told him,
You served honorably...but in my book , no one is a real warrior until they learn how to cry... When you tell me you don't 'think about what happened over there...'then as far as i am concerned, you are blowing smoke up my ass... Learn to cry, then come talk to me... I never heard back, and of course we dont drink or talk anymore.
I forwarded an abstract from a Naval War College course, which defines a real warrior. (Something they don't teach marines of his era) The explanation has all the elements of soulfulness, proper discretion, and above all, the desire for real peace. Its not just a "job"
Your Mcullogh and Hodgson appear to "get that", but this marine I spoke with, did not.
In light of our beer-night , and also an event at his workplace, I advised him to get counseling (PTSD)
