Dizzizz wrote:I know it's a gamble, picking up a line of guitars nobody's ever heard of, but I've got one you'll be interested in. Sozo guitars are handmade here in Ohio. They're gaining popularity, especially in Christian rock, with bands like Family Force 5 using them now. I played a couple of their axes at Alive '09... damn, are they nice. Check them out at http://sozoguitars.com/.

That is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for thank you. :D

OH, and ... we ( Jeanette & I ) have been approved for the loan application we presented to our banker.
( God help me I hate bankers )
So it's just a matter of weeks before we start making offers on some real-estate.

And Ron ... Jeanette and I are accustomed to 12 - 14 hrs a day and myself 3 or more employers 7 days a week.
I am willing to give it a shot working for myself.
I appreciate your thoughts and sentiment.

God bless all of you.

Maybe you can start your own micro-brewery or coffee house inhouse while you're at it. If you have room for a small stage area so you can have performances, unplugged or amped up that would be cool. Ooooh and a recording booth.
Yeah that's the ticket!

Good Luck to you. There is some tough comp. out there, you're definetely gonna need something unique to pull them in.

Hey... know where I can get a good discount on a Sheraton epi?

Actually this is pretty much what the wife and I want to do.

I have a good life long friend ( more a brother of a different mother ) whom makes a pretty good dark beer.
We are keeping our options open at present ... we will see how the real estate negotiations work out.

You laugh but if you start making $ hand over fist, just tell the big guy how happy you are and thank him for his blessing..

(it always worked for me)

That is the plan brother.

I want only a right profit and the opportunity to be successful enough to perhaps financially benefit those around me as well.

I was always of the opinion that a business is only as good as it's people.

Not to sound all commie or such but for individual positions to have a specific salary or hourly rate is all well and good.
But true corporate profit should be shared equally.
Not a million dollar bonus to some absentee CFO and a damn turkey at Christmas to all the rest of the employees. If that.

I don't believe that is the way God intends me to be steward of that what he provides.

Jeanette and I have kicked around seriously the idea of a beer garden .

YES! I wish I was sitting there right now, with small trees, plants, flowers and tasty live music.

Sans perhaps this will help:

1. Your lower end foriegn built guitars, can be bought
down on Harry Hines Blvd in Dallas, they sell electric
and acoustic guitars, amps and all kinds of accessories.
I use to buy acousyic guitars for as low as about 10 dollars,
and electric guitar and amp combos for as low as 35 or 40
dollars. Shop several of the wholesalers before you buy, cause
the guy your buying from my just be going down the street
a couple of blocks to get his restock, and that's where you
need to be buying. If you go to Houston down on Harwin Drive,
you usually will find lower prices and bigger selection.

2. St Louis Music Company is a big wholesaler of high end
music gear of all kinds, I think they're a little high on a lot
of their stuff , but I use to purchase some from them.

3. Musicians Friend has a big store in Kansas City, and
I bought a lot of new guitars and equipment, out of their
damaged and returned goods section, just got to look them
over good, ther's a lot of good stuff in there, I think they
have some more of these stores located around the US.

4. I made more money on used equipment than I ever did
on new equipment. Search Craigslist, pawnshops, auctions,
garage sales, anywhere people are selling gear.

%. Someone said to add other services, to me they're right
and they're wrong. I added other services, but I didn't have
time to give lessons, and string up guitars, and work on equipment,
so you sub all this work out and make a commission on it, this
way you offer all the services, and make the money on them ,
while you act as a facilitator (go-between). e.g. guy brings his guitar
in for some work, he leaves it with you, you tell him my
guitar repairman is averaging a week turn around time,
check back in a couple of days and I'll tell you where he's at
on your guitar.

6. Lowball everyone, I got to the point when I went to Wal-Mart,
and they'd say that'll be $101.50, I would say will you take
a hundred, you'd be surprised how many checkout clerks
would. I lowballed everywhere, the buyer starts low the
seller starts high.

I could write more but you will have to find your own way.

Good Luck

WOW ... good information and insight.

I cannot tell you all how much I appreciate your support.

My wife hired a broker whom we have become familiar with.

She will help us with contracts and stuff so we don't loose our shirts in the real estate end of the deal.
Should have the cash in hand by Thursday.
Then the real fun begins

Thanks again guys.

Y'all rock.
