Not to call myself a beginner or anything, but I'm not looking to go professional for any reason. I've been browsing around just looking for somebody to jam with first, don't really know anyone in town doing the same, so I figured I'd look online. I like the feel of Bandmix, but it's also geared towards folks aiming to be professionals, and I don't want to fork out money just to talk to people. I'm a hobbyist by nature, never had big ambitions to go on stage, maybe an open mic or two, but I really just want to find some like-minded folks that want to get together and jam. If we feel like we should go pro and perform an actual gig that would be decided later.
So I guess my question is this: Where would I start to find some people in the area that just want to jam?
My initial thought was to head out to some of the open mics, but I'm a piano player/keyboardist. I'd feel silly dragging my whole kit into a local mic that's geared for guitarists.
