I always imagined the second coming to go something like this (the part of Jesus shall be played by Hermione Granger, the part of the Bible shall be played by the paper she's holding, your average Christian shall be played by Harry Potter).

I say this last post with All my Heart, truly I do.

I am truly, truly sorry I even went down this road.
I marvel at my own stupidity and silliness in bickering
with anyone here on matters of faith.
This entire thread has served one purpose: to take me away
from things I could/should have been doing.

I'm heartily ashamed.

Was a good honest discussion conducted peacefully.
Has been interesting to me and caused some introspection which I cherish.

Also has had the effect of stirring of the minions which also tells me that we are on the right path despite some really trifling disagreement.

Which leads me back to the statement I made on persecution.

God bless my brothers and sisters and may the spirit strengthen all of faith and reach out to those whom still wander in darkness.

In Christ name I pray.

Amen

I would agree that Hebrew mythology is quite old, perhaps as old as Greek mythology. Traditionally the Law was given to Moses in 1313 BCE - this would be the beginning of Judaism as a religion though the Old Testament was written down originated in the late 7th century.

The Hebrew Bible carried forward the ancient Middle Eastern cosmology, such as in the Enuma Elish, which described a circular earth with a solid roof, surrounded by water above and below.

Considerably older than both Judiac & Greek texts, the Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts reveal the ancient Egyptians believed Nun (the Ocean) was a circular body surrounding nbwt (a term meaning "dry lands" or "Islands") and therefore believed in a similar Ancient Near Eastern circular earth cosmography surrounded by water.

Some scholars believe that amen is a derivative of the name of the (Egyptian god) Amun / Amon (which is sometimes also spelled Amen).

Here's a fun chart to play with:

http://www.religionfacts.com/big_religion_chart.htm

What's funny is everyone thinks they're on the right path and everyone else is not. How arrogant is that? Me, I'm not against anyone or anything if it puts you in touch with yourself and you treat your fellow people, animal and the earth with respect. So I really have no intention of giving my allegience to a being that demands that I believe in them or suffer hellfire when I've lived my life helping other people, doing what's right in my heart and so on, and I refuse to believe them as a coward and a poser just to save my own skin or "just in case they may be the truth". I don't believe in a Satan either, everything I do, I take responsibility for. I don't blame my actions on something outside of myself.

Truth is a pathless land and my path is my own.

Welcome to Internet forums. I've yet to discuss a subject on a thread that didn't stay on topic, they often go off into different directions.

God says to stand up for the truth. Stick to his word. And that it's not open for private interpretation. And that you will suffer if you do that. Just think if your parents had "avoided confrontation" when it came to raising you. In the end you would suffer. If somebody is going near a fire and is about to get burned I'm going to warn them. Even if they get mad at me.
