Listen to this intro;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikxUX2T3vIw

Its divided into 5, eight bar sections, each with its own riff and feel. Then they go into vocals.

This is considered neo-thrash, and if you listen to the entire song, you'll hear influences from different types of "Metal" influences.

No, that's not Neo-Thrash at all. Here's some Neo-Thrash. You can hear the heavy 80's "influence".

Sounds like an Exodus tribute band. Even their name, Bonded By Blood, is an Exodus reference. It's okay. I've heard worse.

You cant pigeon hole a band, just by listening to one song. Here's Savage Messiah's general thrash sound.

Jerry I just got a chance to listen on my computor.

Your guitar work is awesome on these songs. I love the contrast in dynamics you use, clean guitar to raw I have always loved that.

Final Stand would make a killer name in my mind. When I listened to that song I got a real Dream Theatre vibe going in my mind.

Fall From Grace conjured up a Candlebox feel to me for some reason, maybe it was the structure of the song, and the buildup in the middle.

The interval during the solo section of When I Lie sounded faintly like Black Sabbath to me. It felt long, I liked the harmony section but it sounds a lot thinner than the rest of your guitar work.

As I said I love the contrast to your songs, I think that dynamics like that draw a listener in. Nirvana seems killer doing this to me, not that Im a big fan but most of thier songs had that kinda of thing going.

Negtives, man Im sorry but I just dont like your singer. I mean he gets it emotionally and seems in key, but it just feels like he is overreaching himself. Im not saying hes bad, but man if Chris Cornell could come and do the vocals I would be on board. Please dont go back to him and tell him that, cause I do like the vibe he presents but when I listened he seems to distract me for some reason.

Overall I think its great and will listen some more. This was just my initial impression and I do enjoy your guitar tone. Man that carvin can grit up more than the ones Ive played on.

Keep Rockin Dude and Thanks For Sharing With The Forum

Youve got a redneck fan in TN!

I dont mean to slam anyone but why would you post links to bands on a guys tracks. Jerry is showing what hes doing and wants comments. Why introduce your favs in the post, please make another post for what you like to listen too. I say this because how would you feel posting up your hard worked upon music only to have some one introduce other links to your thread.

This is a music site and I know everyone has thier freedoms to do whatever they want. But if someone puts up a post, why disrepect them in that way. To me its a rude jesture on your part and I dont think you would want that when you post up music.

have a Great Day everyone

And Jerry Rock On Man, your sounding great!

The links that were posted were as reference to the discussion on "Metal", and because I thought Jsantos music bordered on metal. I dont see any sign of disrespect in using outside examples to communicate an idea. Im not trying to sell Savage Messiah, and Im sure Kruliosis isnt trying to hawk a favorite band either.

You're making a lot of generalizations without really reading the post, I can tell because you missed the fact that we already established the name "Final Stand" was already in use by both a band, and a production house.

This is the kind of shite that starts shite.

Scraatchy Im not starting shite and you spell it sh*t, I just find it disrespectful to put other links on someones post that is looking for comments, thats all I was saying.

Just cause your a metal head doesnt mean you have to have a chip on your shoulder does it?

If you want to discuss metal then just start a thread of that sort, whats the big deal!

i meant no disrepect to you and didnt name you

have a Great Day sir

Hi JW Thanks for taking the time to give my new stuff a listen. It means so much to me to receive some perspective from a true veteran of performance.

Hehe guess what? .... The amp tone your hearing is from a Peavey Valve King:

Image

Best All Tube Combo Amp I have found for under $500. its 100ww with A / AB type switching.

The approach with our songs, like you said, has that dynamic from clean to hard is correct. I have noticed that bands, especially Nirvana does this. But we tend to take a slightly different way of making that switch.... Instead of just stomping on a pedal..... we try to "set up the listener" to anticipate that switch. I think we accomplish this by changing time signatures, utilizing key sig switches and tempo. The intro to Final Stand starts from soft 4/4 > soft 5/4 > Hard 4/4. Also key signatures using cadences (Dominant 5 chords or Dim 7ths to Root), we also use double time. Soundgarden/Tool/Sevendust are good examples of a bands that employ these techniques I'm trying to describe. I think doing this makes the "hook" or chorus more potent and recognizable.

As for the singer, Jon, has great potential. He's very young (21) and when he sings covers, sounds right on. As for originals..... he has trouble. This is because his melodies are not established yet. I'm thinking the best thing for us is to do is go over his melodies with a piano, transcribe them Jon can practice note for note.

Again thanks for the input JW
