I should have just told you that this was the wrong forum and that it would rub a lot of people on here the wrong way.
My bad!
I think I can speak for many of us here that do original material on the fact that we're on here somewhat regularly probably means that we're not as busy with our music as we want to be, and that alone is frustrating. So when something that can be taken as an insult gets posted, it usually draws a pretty harsh reaction, whether they are aware of that or not.
I'm still not in favor of your production but that's your business not mine.
So maybe next time read your post over a few times before submitting em, and I'll try not to go militant on ya again.
Best of Luck
Well, thank you, Hayden...
I was actually just trying to use economy of words in writing the post, and meant nothing negative, except perhaps with the phrase "posers" but by that I meant simply people who spend an hour in front of the mirror getting their hair just right before going out, or people who wear uniforms, which has been so glorified in the younger rock movement by the emo bands.
And when I said I was just starting to look, that is the truth...I don't even know if this is a movie I will make. (Next up is the horror flick, and then a doc on pizza.) I don't even know if the sort of band I'm looking for even exists at this point, or if things like MySpace have destroyed all of that.
I believed (and still do, to be honest) that any board read by musicians would be a gateway to potentially finding what I'm looking for. That even if younger players didn't read the board (and I'll bet you actually have a lot more younger lurkers than you think here), people who posted would know of some, a younger brother perhaps, the kid next door, whomever. And hopefully pass the info on.
Though I have a small company, with everyone assigned very specific tasks, finding music is nothing I would ever delegate. It's one of the best parts of my job. And perhaps I can't even explain perfectly what I'm looking for for this doc (saying "The Replacements in 1980" is as close as I can come), I just know that when I hear it, I'll be awash with goosebumps. And if I don't find it exactly right, I move on to something else. But it at least seems an avenue worth exploring. (You can spend two to four years or more on a film from inception until the end of it's film fest run and ancillary release...so for me to do any film, I need to LOVE the subject, and my musical taste are pretty damn specific. For a film like this. I need to find music that shakes the very core of my being.)
If any of that makes sense.
