Unfortunately...my damn tomatoes are now blocking my cucumbers and my spanish onions as well. I took a pic, but it's still on my phone. Need some with the camera. In my case, being the first year for a garden at my new house, I planted across the rectangle rather than with the rectangle which is how the sun travels through the garden. Live and learn I guess, LOL!

I'm getting ready to clone my best pepper plants here shortly so I'll have an endless supply all winter long (because I just have to have pickled japalenos, hungarian hots, cherry hots, habaneros, and cayennes for hot sauces).

As far as the sun blocking issue, it looks like you're in the same boat as me. We both have to pay attention to how the sun travels through our garden areas and plant accordingly next year. This year though...it looks like everything will work out just fine. Rock on brother!!!

I picked 30 lbs of tomatoes yesterday. I took 20 lbs to church last night and all but about 8 tomatoes got snatched up! 8) I have 3 times that many still on the vine in various stages of green - orange.

Still pumping out tomatoes! I can't believe how little effort gave so much reward. I only watered this garden maybe 6 times. I didn't fertilize at all. I forget about it for weeks at a time. I never weeded it. It has waist high grass in it. But it still is cranking out the tomatoes! This is 17 pounds I pulled today - sept 22!!

My place is more a bahia grass pasture in the areas where there are no thick trees that a "lawn".

I want to set out about twenty or so concrete stones to place large terracotta pots on with pea gravel bottoms then mix the soils according to the plants.
Have an idea to grow the melons next to an elevated nylon mesh to keep em off the ground.
Will require a lot of upkeep / research because of the damn fire-ants.

What kind of soil are you growing in? I know it's not your typical backyard clay stuff. That's farmin' dirt for sure.

Damn, I had all those same peppers stashed in my freezer, I knew I should have pickled them. They got freezer burn and I had to toss emm...including three gallon bags of habaneros.

My sauce tastes good but is really hot. My recipe hasn't been beaten yet! Too bad we can't have a contest Metal D. :D

It's just the dirt in the yard. There is no clay. I didn't add anything to the soil. As soon as it stops producing I will till in some manure.

I harvested at least 150 lbs. I don't think any garden had ever been there. At least not in the 7 years I've been here.
