Joe and Rush are right, we shouldn't take money from BP to clean up this mess and compensate the people affected. Those people should just get other jobs and quit crying about the polluted mess that will take years to clean up. Afterall, a foreign company has the right to recklessly operate and be exempt from responsibility. If Rush said it, I believe it.

I posted this on facebook, had all of two comments...guess no one really cares?

Kyle D. Sawyer: Gulf of Mexico holds 660 Quadrillion gallons. Oil is leaking at 300,000+ gallons per day (or more). Based on dissolved O2, the Gulf will be virtually dead at all coasts lines in 762 days. I'm not that smart (just ask my FB friends), but why hasn't anyone else figured this out?

Securing 20 Billion from BP is about the only thing President Obama has done right in this mess. (That is "IF" he indeed is the reason BP set those funds aside - Which would seem to be the case)

Guess what Mitey, no one does care. It seems everyone has taken the focus off the real problem; OIL SPILLING OUT LIKE CRAZY.

BP has their solutions, they are using the brightest minds they have.
Washington has their solutions , they are using the brightest minds they have.

Still this well keeps spilling like crazy.

I have tried to contact Horizon support, BP , obama , congressman ,and more. I have , and so do many more Americans very viable ways to stop this well from spilling out like crazy. At this point even a small C4 charge exploded near the top would close and cap this mess.

But like you said nobody cares. I say FCK everyone doing any political posturing untill THE SPILL IS STOPPED! That list is growing .

I am just saying give me a long enough stick ,an old pair of jeans, and a box of corn flakes, and I bet I can stop the spill.
We are being handed a large dose of bull.
Think about it.

Bet ya can't.

People can be fined for littering, but BP doesn't have to pay for anything?
Riiight...

This is just Brit karma for the boston tea party.

Fines, Lawsuits and Settlements of Lawsuits:

1 Billion - MasterCard - 2003

1.1 Billion - Microsoft - 2003

1.4 Billion - Goldman Sachs - 2003

1.4 Billion - Lehman Brothers - 2003

2 Billion - J.P. Morgan Chase - 2005

2.2 Billion - J.P. Morgan Chase (Different Lawsuit) - 2005

2.6 Billion - Microsoft - 2004

3.1 Billion - Cendant - 1998

4.7 Billion - Halliburton - 2004

In 2003, a GM lawsuit was originally decided by a jury for 4.9 Billion, but a judge later reduced the judgement to 1.2 Billion.

The 4.9 Billion was to go to 6 people, resulting from a product liability case.

6 People.

14 MILLION people live along the Gulf Coast!

14 Million people.... families, businesses, tourism industry, etc...

Ask me if I think, that setting aside 20 Billion to help those affected (14 MILLION PEOPLE) is excessive or a "Shakedown".

Who cares about 11 dead and an ecological system ruined indefinitely or thousand of local businesses gone some forever, hundreds of thousand families left without an income now at the mercy of BP for their survival?

Frustration prevents me and I suspect many others from listening to the news simply because there isn’t a darn thing I or anyone else can do about it, I haven’t found the way yet to transform frustration or even anger into actions we, meaning the American people are helpless against corporations.

BP, Shell, Exxon, Mobil and the rest of these oleaginous companies are very good in extracting oil but they haven’t got a clue how to repair or prevent disasters, when our glorious politician awarded these leases to these companies nobody bother to ask if they had breakdowns prevention plans or if they had the means and the knowledge to make repairs in case of accidents, we all know what happened to government agency in charge to safeguard people’s interests.

Collusion between corporations and our elect officials at all levels is the cancer that the American people have been struck with and it’s been metastasizing for the past 3 decades unabated, do I care, do we care it’s not the right question, what can we do to safeguard people and environment from this brand of predatory capitalism should be the question.

Maybe we the American people should incorporate ourselves and call the corporation “The united corp. of America” lets hire some top gun lobbyists and send them to Washington this way at least we’ll have a better chance to compete, well I can dream can I? Oh boy writing about this has giving me a migraine I’d take a pill but I’m afraid of the side effects I know the FDA said that it’s safe but can I trust them can you trust them can consumer trust anybody these days?

Nav, right now is not to argue politics. Right now is the time to solve the problem. All I see is the people in charge doing a very poor job. All I see is people pointing fingers . I don't care who started the barn fire , put the damn thing out.

WE HAVE NO LEADERSHIP RIGHT NOW,FROM CORPORATE AMERICA ALL THE WAY TO WASHINGTON. I don't know why but if we can't control a simple oil leak , then this country truly is in trouble!

TRUE about leadership.
What should have been said was 'You have 72 hours to stop it. If you fail, at that time, the U.S. Navy will assume control.'

Yeah GT, now you are getting somewhere. This is turning into another American lie.
We have the abuility to stop this FKN leak tomorrow . Nothing is being done.

Stop the leak, Call ,fax , scream at anyone that is in CHARGE.

Then we clean up the mess , then we point fingers , then we collect damages.

But stop the leak first.

They could easily implode the casing with explosives.
We are being held hostage by the globalist political agenda.
And it won't take 700 days for you to find out I'm right.

did anyone in this thread even bother to read the article Jimmy posted? Did anyone listen to Rush on Monday?

The article is giving an explanation of why there was an apology for calling the push for BP to give 20 billion a "shakedown".

here, read it:
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/ ... guest.html

Rush never said anything like "we shouldn't take money from BP to clean up this mess and compensate the people affected". He said the manner in which BP was forced to pay was "shakedown" style - not legal action - which makes it thuggery, not a lawsuit.
