Kyle D. Sawyer: Gulf of Mexico holds 660 Quadrillion gallons. Oil is leaking at 300,000+ gallons per day (or more). Based on dissolved O2, the Gulf will be virtually dead at all coasts lines in 762 days. I'm not that smart (just ask my FB friends), but why hasn't anyone else figured this out?
Who cares about 11 dead and an ecological system ruined indefinitely or thousand of local businesses gone some forever, hundreds of thousand families left without an income now at the mercy of BP for their survival?
Frustration prevents me and I suspect many others from listening to the news simply because there isn’t a darn thing I or anyone else can do about it, I haven’t found the way yet to transform frustration or even anger into actions we, meaning the American people are helpless against corporations.
BP, Shell, Exxon, Mobil and the rest of these oleaginous companies are very good in extracting oil but they haven’t got a clue how to repair or prevent disasters, when our glorious politician awarded these leases to these companies nobody bother to ask if they had breakdowns prevention plans or if they had the means and the knowledge to make repairs in case of accidents, we all know what happened to government agency in charge to safeguard people’s interests.
Collusion between corporations and our elect officials at all levels is the cancer that the American people have been struck with and it’s been metastasizing for the past 3 decades unabated, do I care, do we care it’s not the right question, what can we do to safeguard people and environment from this brand of predatory capitalism should be the question.
Maybe we the American people should incorporate ourselves and call the corporation “The united corp. of America” lets hire some top gun lobbyists and send them to Washington this way at least we’ll have a better chance to compete, well I can dream can I? Oh boy writing about this has giving me a migraine I’d take a pill but I’m afraid of the side effects I know the FDA said that it’s safe but can I trust them can you trust them can consumer trust anybody these days?
