LMAO!!!

Now, you know... that using Lynyrd Skynyrd against me, is really BELOW THE BELT, right?

But... seriously... Ronnie could make the same mistake, many people do... BIG HEART... NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT SOLUTIONS!

But more often than not, Southerners approach life from a common sense perspective. And realizing that, I would bet anything, that a Southerner made up this little bit of Bumper Sticker Philosophy:

"If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!"

Simple ideas, are also, often the most logical.

The problem with PASSING LAWS that ban hand-guns, is that only the law-abiding RESPECT laws. It is CRIMINALS we are most concerned about, not the LAW-ABIDING among us.

There is no guarantee that BANNING guns, will keep guns out of the country. It is illegal for many illicit drugs to be here, but we can find them in every city in America. Illegal aliens are not allowed to be here by law... yet they also, are in EVERY AMERICAN CITY.

It is laughable, that anyone would believe that banning hand-guns would prevent them from being brought into the country illegally.

Yes, there are accidental deaths, or crimes of passion. But statistically, more lives are SAVED by normally law abiding citizens, than LOST by them. That fact alone, should make preserving the 2nd Amendment the LOGICAL thing to do.

I guess I should be dead by now, never owned or fired a handgun. And I've made a fair share of enemies along the way.

Have you ever been hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk? Have you ever been mugged? Have you ever been struck by lightning? Have you ever danced with a pretty woman, only to find out it was actually a man?

All the above things happen to people every year.

Many things are simply a result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time!

But just because lightning could strike anyone by random, doesn't mean that someone shouldn't be allowed to be responsible or take steps to avoid such a fate. Like staying inside during electrical storms. Not using land lines during electrical storms. Making sure things are grounded in your home, or whatever other measures can be taken to avoid injury.

Just because YOU have been fortunate enough to not be robbed by handgun, doesn't mean that you won't be, one day. And just because YOU don't choose to maintain a handgun in event of such an occurrence, doesn't mean that other law abiding citizens should not have that right, if THEY choose to use it.

There are plenty of things I don't CHOOSE to do, but neither do I deny those same rights to others, if THEY CHOOSE to exercise them.

I read it kind of fast, but... I did not see any mention of Police or other people in high risk professions being eliminated. In other words... cops carry guns as do pawn shop owners and many liquor shop owners, etc... And these people are in HIGH RISK professions. They would be carrying guns BECAUSE they were in high risk professions, rather than the guns themselves, being the CAUSE of their being at higher risk.

And the idea that gun ownership may encourage a certain personality type to engage in more risky behavior, feeling a sense of confidence or protection, occurred to me the moment I saw the statistic, and this was mentioned in the article itself as a possibility.

This would be poor judgement on the part of the person, and not the fault of the weapon itself. It would be like arguing against gun ownership because children have died from playing with them. The solution is not to ban a means of protection for the family, but to better SECURE it, to avoid it getting into a child's hands.

It's funny how such arguments are used, and yet no one says that prescription drugs, or household chemicals should be outlawed... which probably kill more kids than handguns do.

No... let's secure the DRUGS but let's OUTLAW THE GUNS!

That's Extreme-Liberal Logic for ya!

Yes I've seen that "study". It was not conducted on law abiding citizenry being armed. And included felons as well as suicide.
More liberal distortion. They cannot stand on fact because the facts do not support the anti gun position.
Read the FBI stats on crime if your interested in the truth.
Arming law abiding citizens always reduces crime.
Always !!

Does anyone remember the days when the gas and water meter guys would just walk right in your house and go downstairs to read the meters? Man they wouldn't last long these days.

lol, what???

They used to walk around back to read meters without asking, but I never heard of people having meters inside of their houses.

Yeah, they would just yell something like "gas man" and then walk in your house and go downstairs and read the meter. I'm sure they've moved them all outside by now. Like I said they would get shot these days.

Once again Craig has posted the truth, the whole truth ,and nothing but the truth.
You darksiders embarass me with your logic all based on propoganda from the liberal media that lead you to believe in a thousand or so data points that leads you to immediatley ass-ume someone is drinking again meanwhile you go right ahead and do your business on a toilet and there are no Shoot tickets in sight.

Kramer just the fact that you quit because you hate this sh*t and then you are back getting involved again shows me how twisted you are.You really have to evaluate why you even do it.Take your hand off the fire.
You are going up against a freaking Brain like Craig a leader like Craig a deep thinker like Craig. You bring BS to the party and all the words you like to use EMBARASS LOGIC PROPOGANDA.
GO BACK TO PLAYING MUSIC at least that is one thing you do good.

Yes. Hand guns are for killing. They are a tool for protection, & if they didn't have that affect, there would be little to no use for them.

P.S. Rifles & shotguns are for killing, too, but less useful in certain situations.
