LMAO!!!
Now, you know... that using Lynyrd Skynyrd against me, is really BELOW THE BELT, right?
But... seriously... Ronnie could make the same mistake, many people do... BIG HEART... NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT SOLUTIONS!
But more often than not, Southerners approach life from a common sense perspective. And realizing that, I would bet anything, that a Southerner made up this little bit of Bumper Sticker Philosophy:
"If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!"
Simple ideas, are also, often the most logical.
The problem with PASSING LAWS that ban hand-guns, is that only the law-abiding RESPECT laws. It is CRIMINALS we are most concerned about, not the LAW-ABIDING among us.
There is no guarantee that BANNING guns, will keep guns out of the country. It is illegal for many illicit drugs to be here, but we can find them in every city in America. Illegal aliens are not allowed to be here by law... yet they also, are in EVERY AMERICAN CITY.
It is laughable, that anyone would believe that banning hand-guns would prevent them from being brought into the country illegally.
Yes, there are accidental deaths, or crimes of passion. But statistically, more lives are SAVED by normally law abiding citizens, than LOST by them. That fact alone, should make preserving the 2nd Amendment the LOGICAL thing to do.

I guess I should be dead by now, never owned or fired a handgun. And I've made a fair share of enemies along the way.
Have you ever been hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk? Have you ever been mugged? Have you ever been struck by lightning? Have you ever danced with a pretty woman, only to find out it was actually a man?
All the above things happen to people every year.
Many things are simply a result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time!
But just because lightning could strike anyone by random, doesn't mean that someone shouldn't be allowed to be responsible or take steps to avoid such a fate. Like staying inside during electrical storms. Not using land lines during electrical storms. Making sure things are grounded in your home, or whatever other measures can be taken to avoid injury.
Just because YOU have been fortunate enough to not be robbed by handgun, doesn't mean that you won't be, one day. And just because YOU don't choose to maintain a handgun in event of such an occurrence, doesn't mean that other law abiding citizens should not have that right, if THEY choose to use it.
There are plenty of things I don't CHOOSE to do, but neither do I deny those same rights to others, if THEY CHOOSE to exercise them.
