The word "aquacy" doesn't exist in any dictionary. It's in that song where he screams "Mary!" a lot, along with "in the sun in the sun" & ends with "all in all is all we are," or somesuch.

My son was really into his stuff, so I'll hafta ask which one that is, buit I'll bet I described it well enough for any Cobain fan to recognize.

All Apologies

What else should I be?
All apologies.
What else could I say?
Everyone is gay.
What else could I write?
I don't have the right.
What else should I be?
All Apologies.

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married!
Buried!

I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest of salt
Everything is my fault
I'll take all the blame
Aqua seafoam shame
Sunburn with freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married, Married, Married!
Buried!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,

All in all is all we are

This thread is now about misheard lyrics. "Aqua Seafoam is misheard as Aquacy" Ahaha, oh wow.

Or perhaps its about was the lyrical genius a mumbler?

Heroin was his genius... smack yourself... you'll write cool meaningless lyrics and fail to enunciate so the audience can misunderstand you too!

I'm not going to give much thought to someone incapable of living with success. Ozzy had problems, but he knew Suicide was no solution.

Well...all I can say to that is "Oops!"

That's what I get for listening to my son's version of the lyrics, ain't it?

He really WAS quite the mumbler, though.

Yet again, I don't think "Aqua seafoam" is a very good lyric, either!

Apparently it ran in his family.
He allegedly had two uncles that also shot themselves.

I'll save the word "genius" for those who actually are.

Like Hawking...

My opinion...HACK. MTV created Nirvana. Maybe I just don't get it, though. Some people think that abstract expressionism is "genius". I think that it's a bunch of paint randomly thrown on a canvas, and you're supposed to be in awe as the "artist" translates it for you:
"The diagonal red splashes reflect my anger..."

Whatever. Anyone who writes their lyrics in the car on the way to the studio couldn't possibly have something important to say.

nirvana lyrics are usually pretty hard to understand "easy in an easy chair, poop as hard as rock i dont like you any way seal it in a box." you know a lot of the times some one is just high as hell rambling on about something and are mistaken for geniuses. it wasnt that he was the most talented he was just good at what he was doing him self

I "get it" - but I still don't think he's a genius.

I mean, it's really simple - Cobain came along and wrote something different - something that resonated with a generation of angst-ridden teenagers.

The 80's was about hair metal - sex, drugs and rock and roll. The 90's rolled out and there were a whole generation of kids growing up who simply couldn't relate to sex, drugs and rock and roll. Their parents were hippies to put the clamps down because of their own wild youth. So you had a generation of kids being raised in these sheltered environments. They needed an outlet. Cobain's lyrics spoke to them. It reflected how they felt.

So, it makes sense in that context. When music speaks to you, it speaks to you.

But I don't think that makes him a genius just because he tapped into that.

I love a lot of music - my tastes range from Natalie Imbruglia and Stars to Alter Bridge and Dream Theater. But just because a song speaks to me doesn't mean I automatically label the artist "genius". It just happens to be a song that reaches me...

I think Cobain, like so many people before him, was the right guy at the right time. And that's a factor of luck, in a way.

I think you could call him a lyrical genius IF his music would reach people for generations to come. But his lyrics were specific to a group of people at a particular time in history. I don't think they resonate now.

But when I listen to John Lennon's "Imagine"... that resonates forever. Now that is musical genius, to me at least.

Have you ever written lyrics? Not starting sh*t just asking...

You never dictate when an idea hits you... Hell... I've pulled over, sat up in bed in the middle of the night, disrupted band practice, and all sorts of other times when something hits me and I have to jot it down.

ColorsFade said it best though... if it speaks to you it just does. I'm not a huge fan of some genres of music but there are some songs within genres I'm not really fond of that just grabbed me.

You really shouldn't drive in bed while you practice. It's counter-productive & dangerous...
