Regardless, you don't yell it at the President while he's speaking. And all politicians bends the truth; facts are only as good as the person spinning them.

Funny stuff Craig. Of course I don't want to give Texas back to Mexico, that wouldn't be very nice for the Mexicans LOL.

I have some Mexican friends, and they told me about a joke they have in Mexico...

"In the past we hated Santa Anna for signing away Texas to America... Now we hate him for not signing away the whole country to America."

jimmydanger wrote:How many times have we heard Texans want to suceed from the union? I guess you don't remember the last time the south tried to do that.

Of course I do... I'm from the South! But I also know that Southerners are proud and determined, so trust me... the North doesn't want a rematch! ;-)

All politicians are liars at some point. They say what they think you want to hear to get elected, then go ahead and run things the way they think they should be run. I only believe a percentage of what politicians say. Both sides of the isle need to grow up. Sometimes I feel as if I am back in high school as I read all the "debates" going on. Not one thing is perfect, something had to change! Time will tell whether it was a good thing or not, but it is better than arguing endlessly as things get progressivly worse. My two cents for what that is worth anymore.

At today's exchange rate...

About one and a half cents! ;-)

Sad but true. :-(

But that advice was worth a hell of alot more than 2 cents Robin! ;-)

I'm glad you're civil and reasonable Craig. But it seems if this debate has torn our country in two. The representatives of this country's citizens have spoken; let's give it a chance to work and decide later if it was right. Peace.

Well, it may not be over yet.

Republicans are challenging the "constitutionality" of this legislation. I thought of that myself, wondering whether lawmakers can actually FORCE us to pay for health care insurance, even if we feel we cannot afford it. I supposed one could say that it has some parallels in auto-insurance or something similar, but it still seems different to me. Driving can risk the lives of others in case of accidents. The lack of health care is not comparable to that. And besides, it is not a legal requirement to have car insurance... only to have it, if you intend to drive on state and federally funded roads. I can always choose NOT to drive, and therefore not have to pay car insurance. But there is no alternative available for this forced demand.

In any event, as I said... I should get health care completely subsidized by the government (well, my tax money) if I am reading the information correctly... but I have seen some conflicting statements by a few Newspapers, so I am not sure which to believe. I'd read the bill myself, if it wasn't the size of several phonebooks! :-)

Currently uninsured people will see no benefits from this bill until 2014 anyway, but if all holds, and my reading of the legislations is correct, then I will get to see a doctor in 2014... if I don't die before then!

Let's hope I am wrong about the negative consequences.

It will be awhile before we find out either way though.

That's the thing. When you're talking about a phone-book sized bill, it's really hard to gauge the impact. There are too many people claiming victory or doom right now, and the fact is no one knows exactly how this will shake out.

I thought Dooce wrote a pretty cool piece though about how this bill immediately affects her family: http://dooce.com/2010/03/22/mommyblogging

There's some good stuff in this bill. It's not perfect, but I do like some of what's in there.

Currently, I have insurance through my work - and it's good insurance. But I may be switching jobs later this year - I may even be going into consulting and thus will be on my own. Previously I hated the idea of consulting just because of the difficulty of dealing with health insurance. But this bill changes that. Consulting is actually an option for me now...

So, it will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

The man was out of order and is a liar for first not admitting he said it, and then saying he was referring to the bill. I'm sick of the teabaggers calling members of congress fags, nig*ers and baby killers. It's the sign of a desperate mind to sink to that level.

I vote to give Texas back to the Mexicans.

dude i agree 100%. it's all they have. they can't agrue or debate policy because they have no agrument to make other than spending money. but u have to spend money to make any. the talkin heads like limbaugh and beck are ruining the average americans individual thought in my opinion. ppl dont realize these idiots r preaching opinion and not fact or news and so they take it as gospel and roll with it instead of doin research and forming their own opinions. the ppl that are so scared of the things the dems are trying to do are the ones that know nothing about it. it's ignorance as it's finest. i kno damn well had the last admin pushed for any of these things theyd be backed, whether limballs or beck admit it. and to resort to name callin just proves all this and i wouldnt want any hateful bigot like these ppl anywhere near my office. u wanna talk about nazi's i think these douchers would be pretty damn close to that. but i've digressed from what i wanted to originally say....lol please dont give texas back to the meHicans...i was born there

ur last sentence says it all tho. we have to see how it works out no one can be certain, but its better than sitting around while roughly 45,000 deaths occur a yr based simply on a lack of coverage. lol and the bills only 600 some odd pages long. i recently read an article that fox news and right wing affiliates have been calling a "sob story" and even went as far as to badger the young boy involved but in a nutshell boys mother gets rare and potentially deadly yet treatable disease, misses work due to illness, loses job due to missing work, loses insurance due to losing job, loses life due to losing insurance. woman was in her late 20s early 30s i believe and her son is like 9 i think. and limpballs and co say o well there were other state funded options she could have taken with no insurance. the option they refer to in washington to offer coverage to the uninsured had a waiting list upwards of 100,000. i doubt anything less than true health insurance could have saved her. this is in no way directed towards u colors i just happen to click the wrong thing and rolled with it lol

Well, he is a liar.

Sorry, but he's lied about alot of things. He even made up sh*t in his own autobiography, that was later shown to be non-factual.

He's not a very honest person.

That's not an insult... just factual.

Surprise surprise! This California native does agree with CraigMaxim. I don't believe anything the president says. When I saw him running for election something about him freaked me out, and now I know why. My state is going downhill with because of him and our stupid governor. Everyone I know is jobless just about!

BTW, I'm an Independent, so you can't put a left or a right wing on me.

There is a lot of crooked officials, judges, and law enforcement in Texas, but it's only in certain areas. The corruption, self-righteousness, and racial segregation is in West Texas. Now, I'm not putting everyone from there in my analogy, I'm just saying that's where a good majority of the corruption is. Dare I say Lubbock? I can't stand that place. The air is too thick for me!

It would appear from my stand point and the people I know that the representatives spoke against what the majority requested.
Time will tell.
I smell political suicide for many.

Krul, I feel your pain and understand your position. The whole recession started here in Michigan and crept out to the rest of the country over the period of a year. But California's problem extend beyond that downturn; many Californians have been living the high life and were due for a fall. The film industry has all but abandoned Hollywood and much if it has moved here, because Michigan is giving hefty tax incentives to work here. But those wheels were turning long before Obama took over. He was not my first choice, I thought Hillary was what this country needed but people were prepared to put the first black man in office before the first woman. So now we must give him a fair chance, and a little more than a year in office is not a fair chance. It's amazing that he was able to accomplish what no other president has been able to in just nine months. Let's give him credit and let him do his job; if he fails I will be the first to vote for someone else in 2013.
