Sorry. Hypocritical? Yeah a little bit.

Straight up. I love to hear other musicians but when you get 10 a week it get's a little blah. If the other musicians are there to listen to me cool! But when all they do is advertise on my page and others. It gets quite annoying. If you are advertising your stuff and you never say a word to me. Sorry. Your gone.

I'm in this for me, my band mates & I'm focused on my friends, family and fans that are here too. I'm doing thie for me and you. I'm advertising myself. Not them.

Hi Melissa, was wondering if you still need a drummer, I would love to audition for you sometime...I play lots of styles of music and have pretty much played it all, I requested you as a friend on myspace so I hope u take a moment to check out some of my music and videos and let me know if I could be of service to your music...I've played mostly rock but I've been trying to get into more country oriented music as of late.....

I agree about being selective about Myspace friends requests. People who make friends requests to me who I have absolutely no idea who they are AND are not in the immediate Kansas City area AND are NOT musicians I will deny a friends request. I see some Myspace profiles with hundreds or thousands of friends and just laugh. I understand there's a huge business aspect to Myspace but I also understand that I want to have RELEVANT Myspace friends if at all possible. I look forward to Myspace bulletins from my friends on Myspace. I read those bulletins. I also message different friends from time to time. It doesn't make any sense to me to have a Myspace friend who I know absolutely nothing about...

It's just not cool to AUTOMATICALLY deny bands, by checking that box, when YOU ARE IN A BAND yourself. I know as a musician myself, I have LOTS of friends who are in bands. If I were to check that box, besides being hypocrticial of me, my own friends in other bands couldn't request friendship from me. What if some famous musician wanted to sign you up, because someone told him to check you guys out, then they see that you are biased toward OTHER bands and artists... wow... I certainly wouldn't bother trying to contact you through messages or any other way after that!

And it DOES happen sometimes!

Not only have I had Jimmy Van Zant (Ronnie's Cousin) go to my site HIMSELF... but he actually LEFT ME A COMMENT telling me how good the songs were! He could not have done that, if I AUTOMATICALLY denied his friend request! I have also had former members of Molly Hatchet (2 of them) and a few other known acts, visit my sites and leave me comments or send me messages.

You just never know, when something cool like that happens to you!

IT would SUCK to not be prepared for it, when the time came... And you likely wouldn't ever find out, that you had lost such an opportunity!

Honey? That's why I leave my messages & Comments box unchecked so that anyone can send me a message or comment. If the music biz wants to get a hold of me that badly. They can leave me a message or comment Or clearly if they see that My label (Freedom Express Records) is in my top friends. They can go through my manager. If they don't try everything to get a hold of me. Then they're not worth my time. Cause I'm gonna do everything I can, If signed, to go the extra mile for them AND more.
