Extreme, as opposed to "the current norm".
Not "extreme" like CRAZY or INSANE.
If I am remembering correctly, he would also put us back on the Gold Standard, and many other similar things.
In other words, he would alter a HUGE percentage of how our country functions, it's legal and military commitments, treaties, and on and on.
It's too much at one time... there are too many competing interests, to make this possible, without virtually an armed dictatorship.
Choose a few issues... Campaign finance reform... a flat tax.
Get those through, then work on the next few issues.
It's too much to change at one time, and not even a realistic possibility.
Americans "DO" want change, but too much at one time, is difficult to swallow, and again... not even possible with all the competing interests.
I think most Americans did not even anticipate, that similarly, President Obama, would seek
THAT MUCH change, that fast. And even with a filibuster-proof majority in Congress, you can see, that Obama has not been able to do 1/5th of what he is TRYING to do.
