You can be messaged by a PM and you can respond to each message, but if you want to use the service, they expect to be paid.
Fair enough IMO.
I am currently not a PM, but have been for a couple of years.
And will be again. Just not a financial or musical priority at the present.

Just seems crazy. None of the majors lock you out of the messaging if you don't pay. Facebook, Myspace, Reverbnation,Friendster, Bebo etc None of these charge just to send a messages.

Bandmix is my favorite musician's website. It's not quantity that counts, but quality. You say the other websites don't charge to send messages, and that's true. But with all the advertising on those sites we all in effect pay for them as well. I prefer the style and content of Bandmix any day of the week. I've been a paid member for over three years now. I've gotten some very good quality contacts here. In my opinion if somebody pays to message people they must be serious about being a musician. Also the frequent contributors to this Forum have freely given some very valuable advice to everyone here. Whether you pay or not is up to you. Either way good luck in your search...

Do you really have to be a premier member just to send a message? I get a message saying you have to be a premium member to send messages. That's bunk. Havin' trouble with that. I realise I live in the cultural armpit of Eastern Washington, but I'm payin' $10 a month to be the only dolt out here with a primere memebership?

I know it's not Bandmix's fault, but I'm not getting $10 a month worth of service.

I've been a 2nd class member for about two years, & I love this place. I've gotten a few responses to my ads but I haven't connected with anyone that fits, yet.

I think the only other perk to being a paying member is 150mb of storage space. At 3mb a song that's about 50 songs, but most people are lucky to have 5. The best perk is getting to flame people who piss you off.
