I've been here longer than almost all of you. My first account disappeared for some reason so I had to re-signup. This place used to be way worse than now. I can remember when there would be a dozen threads all with people flaming each other. I never posted much because everybody ignored me anyway LOL.

Anyway off topic and social posts are what drive forums. People will come to ask a musical question but they will stay for the social stuff. Besides how many times can you discuss who is the greatest guitarist or what is the best amp for Metal or which is better Fender or Gibson? 8)

Between me and you, Chippy, I dont know how to reach out to you and all the good people of our music world. I have seen to many great musicians just trying to stay alive and pay their bills.
This is all coming from a govt that is out of touch and now becoming out of control. Sorry to vent , but, I need time to play music , instead of working 10,12 14, 16 hour days to pay my TAX bill. You find a way to change this ,Please do,,instead of venting then I can get back to my music, that I love.

Craig you said,
" Don't like the discussion? Move to the next one. "
A few others seem to feel the same way.
.
OK, I'm moving on . . .

LOL, when I'm not making music that nobody wants to listen to I write articles and edit a magazine. Writing is a lot like music, just because you CAN type/play 100 words/notes per minute/second, doesn't mean you Should.

Alan,

I'm not taking responsibility for your emotions.

You don't think it bothers and even hurts me, when you keep complaining about the conversations I have here?

I'm not having conversations with myself. Apparently there are plenty of others who enjoy debating and discussing those topics. And the topics you despise, get the most views and have the most responses anyway.

What is the problem with that exactly?

As far as I can recall, there are not enough topics to even move the titles to the next page each day. In fact, I just checked and there are 4 (FOUR) DAYS of threads, all on the first page. Are you wanting it not to move for a week straight or something? I mean... you aren't having to SEARCH for whatever threads you are interested in are you?

I mean step back and look at yourself.

You have some pet peeve, and you want other people to STOP talking about things that YOU don't think they should enjoy talking about.

How do you think that is reasonable, when there are FOUR FRIGGIN' DAYS of threads for you to look through, without even going to the next page, and yet you don't comment on almost any of the music threads, and instead, just show up every few weeks to b*tch that there are non-musical threads on this forum.

Feel sorry all you want.

It is YOU who is being unreasonable and DEMANDING, and if your feelings are hurt because you can dish out your complaints but can't handle someone being p*ssed off back, because of the repetition of your same complaint, then it is YOU that has a problem.

There's nothing reasonable about your repeated complaint.

Maybe a few of you are SCARED of the subject matter? That's all I can get from this, that would make any sense. And if it's that... then stop reading things that frighten you.

I have always been generous with you, and tried to respond to your requests for critiques, or just to listen to your new songs. And I have praised you for many of them, and given you advice on others. When you asked whether anyone had tried this new company that was like taxi, I checked them out. There were complaints about them being fraudulent and deceptive. I warned you, but you had signed up already. I can't help that you wasted $300 on bottom feeders that take people's money and do little to nothing for them in return.

I mean, is that it? Is your life not going like you want?

Why do you have to dump on me for it?

Why do you have to beat this dead horse into the ground every few weeks?

Don't you know how to live and let live?

Even still, I want to tell you "I'm sorry" that you are so offended at these conversations that you have a personal problem with, and tell you "Oh, please don't go Alan!"

But why?

Why do I have to beg you for anything?

You keep bothering ME and my conversations.

I don't tell you what to talk about or not talk about.

One last time... LIVE AND LET LIVE ALAN!

No one forces you to read something you say you don't want to read.

Or do they?

Is anyone FORCING you to read topics you don't like?

If not... explain again, why this affects you at all?

But I'm trying to build up the courage! ;-)

If I do respond will it stay or walk away? Will it become another bemoan where takers add frills at leisure where only main folks stay in this village?

Great, you were here first.
I don't remember mentioning you or Rat at all when I said the above?

Surprised its still here

CraigMaxim wrote:

I've been here longer than Ratsass too.

Ratsass said the same thing...

"The forum USED TO BE a great place before you got here!"

But he didn't know... I WAS HERE (before I got here) LOL

I had taken a break. And guess what?

Before Ratsass got here (when I was on break) there were people who did nothing but flame one another. EVERY OTHER THREAD! In fact, our own Capt. was one of them. You should have seen the way he put people down, even women, for every damn thing you can imagine... going for the jugular like a wildcat!

He would tell people their music sucked and they sucked too!

They would tell him the same sh*t back.

THEY NEVER GOT TIRED OF IT!

Like hemorrhoids, he still flares up once in a while. He and John went at it just awhile back, threatening to kick each other's asses (all online, as usual)

I poured my heart out to the Capt way back then, about his abrasiveness, and I can't know, but I'd like to think it helped calm him down a little, cause he did calm down for a long while, But he's his own man, so only he knows why he had a little change of heart. Regardless, he's part of the community, and we all dealt with it fine, either way.

Forums are what they are.

If you think that heated discussions on forums are something unusual, then you have not been on the Internet long. Because that is NORMAL where there are regular, active participants.

This place is WAY MILD where that stuff is concerned. Which is cool, and part of the reason I like it... not to mention that I have known some of these people for 3 or 4 years now.

But the statement...

"THIS USED TO BE A NICE PLACE"

There is no such thing as "used to be" because before YOUR "used to be" (when you got here) it "used to be" something else... and before that, it "used to be" something else again.

It is a forum, like all forums, where some people come and go, and where others are old timers who have been around for ALL the coming and going.

What makes this NOT a nice place?

I try to be nice to people as much as possible.

Don't you?

We all forgive each other when we flub up once in awhile.

But, believe it or not... IT IS possible to have serious heated conversations on one thread, and then flip threads and joke about tits with Crip!

Is it supposed to be "tits only"?

If the subject matter bothers you personally, why does that mean EVERYONE ELSE has to stop talking about them?

Cause I don't get that!

Can you explain it?

You have both made comments, blaming me for the Newsgroup going "downhill" somehow, with people being "mean" to each other in heated discussions.

I mentioned that I was here BEFORE YOU TWO, only because, you were both unaware that things have been much more vicious on here BEFORE YOU TWO GOT HERE, and NOT because of me. I tried to play peace maker when people were attacking others on here "personally".

That's the only reason that comment was made. You guys were unaware of that fact.

Things were not "better" before... just different.

These are just heated discussions for the most part... not too much personal attacks.

But I may take a break again.

I get that you guys would prefer a place where nothing serious is discussed, and people just joke around. And joking is good. Laughing is healthy. I've just not understood why people can't joke around as much as they want anyway?

What I thought about it, is that maybe the real problem, is that I spend TOO MUCH TIME here, and so I post alot (both musical and noon-musical) and it's easy for me to respond to everyone consistently, because I have had the time to do it lately.

I'll try and give it a rest for awhile.

I share my beliefs with others, and I like them sharing theirs with me too, because I enjoy seeing how my beliefs, collected over many years, stand up to scrutiny... and I ALWAYS learn alot in the process. I figure WE ALL learn something from communicating?

I know I do.

Take homosexuality for example.

I'm not gay, so I don't think alot about it usually. But when Colors had expressed that many Christians judge homosexuals as sinners and evil, etc.. because they are gay... it made me think about it more. And as I do so, it refines my own thinking on it, and I believe I now have a better understanding of it, and may even have some methods of PROVING to other Christians, that it is not such a simple issue of sin, as they inherited from ancient understandings of what makes someone homosexual.

Do you know how many hundreds of years, Christian ministers have been putting homosexuals down as the most evil reprobates there are? On par with child molesters?

There is now SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE that PROVES that homosexuals REALLY ARE born that way, and key to it, is their brain's processing. Homosexual men, have brain patterns (from infancy) that resemble a "WOMAN'S BRAIN" rather than a heterosexual Male's. And the same for Homosexual women. They have brain patterns (from infancy) that resemble a "MAN'S BRAIN" rather than a heterosexual woman's.

So, there is an example right there, how because of a RELIGIOUS discussion, I gained valuable information and insights into it, and good arguments, that may in fact HELP OTHERS to be more tolerant of homosexuality, rather than judge them so harshly for being BORN the way they were BORN!

Maybe that would help the world just a little?

Maybe some Christians would be more respectful and understanding now, of someone who is different, rather than preach FROM PULPITS that they are "evil" or "possessed by the devil" or any other superstitious belief about it, which is not accurate.

Maybe there would be less discrimination and less violence against other human beings as a result, if others could learn these things too?

I realize that people are "annoyed" sometimes, for the discussions I engage in, but in my heart, I am going for the GREATER GOOD, and hoping to change the world for the better, even if only, in some small ways.

But I have had ample opportunities to share what I believe, and learn what others believe.

I'll try and give it a break.

I'm gonna be working on finishing alot of songs I have already started.

Be happy! :-)

Try and understand my heart, and maybe you won't hate me, for trying to learn from others, and teach others what I have learned.

Wow well put Craig. As I've mentioned before hardly anyone responds to musical threads I've started or contributed to. So after while I prefer to chat about things that interest me as a person. Some of those things we don't agree on but we manage to keep it civil and avoid ad hominum attacks. I respect most of the people on this board and consider a few of them to be friends. If I don't have an interest in a particular thread I don't contribute. I totally ignore the jerks lol.
