I don't usually go out of this site to check out bands, & most of the others here don't either, I think.

My 1st suggestion would be to fill out your profile, post some music, & let us critique you right here.

Welcome to the forum.

Take a picture of your band playin' on stage. Post it on the wall. Put on one of your best songs. Then, ask yourself. Would I pay money to see this.

You got some good lyrics goin' 'not monumental" but good and of the three songs "Please" stands out.

I think with what I hear in the recordings you would make a great coffee house act.

hmm needs work. Refinement. Drums would be good. The hi-hat tap might work for one song, but any more than that is abusing it.

Guitar and vocals have timing issues, practice with a metronome. There's tons of free ones online, so all you need is a pc with speakers.

Guitar seems out of tune, out of tone, or both.

Idea-wise, not bad at all. Some of the material has promise and could be refined into some really good music someday.

Firstly I like the name :D

Pretty hard for anyone to judge an incomplete band setup but I rather like what you are trying to do. Some of your stuff sounds as though you are trying to market your music here perhaps?

That will be a hard trip riddled with minefields I'm afraid. Americans are better at that sort of thing (If that's what you are trying to do?) Think of it like Fish 'n' Chips. Brits are kings of it, no one can beat us at it either.

You have a nice lost sound feel too.

Anyway a more upbeat post from me and it was a pleasure talking about music.
Go get a drummer and please use the forum yeah?

Cheers.

Chippy.

(Edit!) You are from the states! I'll get my coat!

"Tell Me" - I like the way this starts out. Very laid back moody stuff. The guitar is a lil strange, but it isn't all that offensive to me.

"I Will Follow You" - I think you should find a different guitar tone for this one. Needs drums. Needs bass. Timing issues. Your voice fits this material well, but I wouldn't call you a good singer. Bass comes in at 1:36? That's just a bit too weird for me.

"Please" - I hate harmonica when it isn't in tune with the rest of the instruments. Use an accordian if you want that reed sound rather than an el cheapo mouth harp. (LOL) I like the bass work on this. Perhaps the harp is just too loud? You have some odd stuff going on in the mix...instruments & vox coming up & down in volume. Not a bad lil tune.

I like your feel on these. Good lyrics. Mellow, almost Train kinda sound, but far less refined. That raw sound isn't all that bad, really, but you could tighten it up a bit. The songs are good. The performances are perfectly okay for your style. The arrangements are fair. The production, recording & mix suck big time.

What exactly makes me not a "good singer" idk just wondering how i can improve.

You slide into your notes in a lazy kinda way, rather than hitting them dead on. Your tone is cool, but it wouldn't fit in many other genres, musically. There doesn't seem to be a lot of emotion or energy to your voice, yet it's working for you here. I realize that this is just a style for ya, don't get upset with me...I'm strict about some things. I didn't think David Byrne was a good singer either (Talking Heads) but he sure got the job done with style! As long as your voice fits the material, you're doing well, & it's obvious that you write for your voice. I prolly shouldn't have said anything...

Don't listen to these Simon Cowell wannabees. Fans of music will always give you the proper feedback.

Look at Lemmy. If he was just starting out everybody would hate him(for all you bass players).

Kerry King would be considered unrefined in his noisy solos, but what band is he in again?

Mick Jagger would get slammed on this board. He didn't do so bad in his career though, did he?

Don't take these guys at face value. I've thought about their advice, and they aren't anything but other faces in musicland.

Just do what you do. STYLE will surpass any technical ear masterbation any day!

I didn't see anyone putting down his work in any way. He asked for criticism, & he got it. Not a thing wrong with that, & he got some input he might be able to use that a mere "fan" wouldn't have the insight to give him. Krul.
