Craig, I'm not sure you know the meaning of those words. Because fact is, Palin was incapable, inept and just plain old ignorant.
Ignorant of some things... yes. Incapable, inept and stupid? NO!
Ignorance is remedied, and very quickly so, by an intelligent and motivated person, which she is.
To Bill Clinton's credit, when everyone was making a big deal out of the fact that Bush did not know the name of the President of Malaysia, or some other small country, Clinton's response suggested that they were making too big a deal out of it, because as President, he would learn them quickly enough. It was not, as I recall, said in derision, but Bill gave an honest response, alluding to the fact that not everyone COMING IN will be knowledgeable about every detail of world affairs, but they ALL will know these people first-hand quickly enough.
Someone with several doctorates who writes history and geography books for a living, may have a great deal of knowledge of world affairs, both historically and currently, and yet this would mean NOTHING on how they would govern, and what type of president they would be.
Some of our best presidents have been well educated, and some of our best presidents have had very limited education.
How much do you think she understood about being a Governor before becoming one? But she had an 80% approval rating, well into her term... until she wet the pants of the Democrats.
She is VERY CAPABLE and she would have made a fine Vice President. She is smart. Not intimidated easily. She learns quickly.
SHE WORKS FOR THE PEOPLE!
SHE IS HONEST!
SHE IS REAL!
You have not heard the last from Sarah Palin.
You will regret the things you have said in the future.
Trust me.

She was not ready to be on the national stage,
Yes she was. And is.
You can't see this because you can't get past her lack of resume and her not being a foreign relations wiz. Like Bill Clinton rightly said, she would learn that fast enough.
This is why I would run a corporation better than you would. The best investment a company can make, is in good people. A good executive interviews someone for mere minutes, and gets a good sense of what that person would mean to the company. You can know in minutes, that this person will be loyal, and handle everything I put before them.
She is like that. A good investment. She would be loyal to the nation's interests and she would work FOR THE PEOPLE!
Character, integrity, work ethic, concern for the people she represents, intelligence, determination, honesty, etc... There are many things one should consider when choosing a leader.
She has all the important ones.
She had plenty of executive experience and proved herself on different levels of government, rising to the ranks of Governor of her entire state.

She's already held positions of power.

She knew virtually nothing about the issues -
Not true.

her knowledge level was clearly lacking.
That's true.

Palin's unpreparedness revealed a lot about her character.
No it doesn't.
It reveals that she's been waaaaay outside the beltway, governing the State of Alaska which if you were driving there, may require that you bring your passport, because you will be going into Canada first, and then BACK INTO the United States.
Her state is isolated from mainland USA, and at times would seem like a whole other country. It is one of the most majestically beautiful places on Earth, and often referred to as "The Last Frontier" in America, because it is MASSIVE and much of it, still wild and untouched by industry. In fact, Alaska is so large, and yet not highly populated for it's size, because of it's distance from mainland America and it's climate, that major highways don't always connect there. She governed a near paradise, where natural beauty and wilderness are concerned.
Why would she give a rat's ass about becoming an expert of foreign policy in that role? And in that state? People live more simply there, and more in tune with the natural world. It is like a time capsule of the good parts of America that are being lost everywhere else.
Washington could use a breath of fresh Palin, bringing some of those values back into a capital that is so far removed from average Americans, that it should be given a Green Card and declared a Resident Alien, and the Department of Immigration making unscheduled home visits... just to be careful.
It's true... this woman has NOT been a Washington DC insider for decades.
Guess what?
THAT'S THE APPEAL!!!

And lest you think this is just a left-wing attack on Palin - you will be hard pressed to find someone who admired John McCain more than me prior to that election. If McCain would have run in 2004 instead of Bush. I could have easily voted Republican.
As a veteran, I admire the guy for his service and his time in a prison camp. And I think McCain is the ideal Republican because, prior to the election, he didn't bow down to the extreme Christian radical right win. He valued the core Republican ideals - small government, personal liberties, fiscal responsibility. If those three ideals were once again the basis of the Republican party and McCain was the guy at the point, I could support that easy.
McCain was a guy who was willing to work with Democrats for the greater good. McCain was a guy who wanted to do what was best for the American people. McCain was a guy who supported the BEST IDEA no matter which side of the isle it came from. And that's what a great leader does. He doesn't care where the idea came from, or who gets credit, he cares about championing the best idea and making it work.
Agree with every bit of that.
He should have been President in 2000. Many Democrats and Independents would have voted for him, and he was going to take on campaign finance reform, which is sorely needed, to help bring our country back to the people.
My favorite uncle, who almost always votes Democrat was going to vote for him, and me, a life-long Republican was going to vote for him.
If he and I agreed on this? You know, McCain is one hell of an individual, with support across both sides of the political spectrum. But Bush Family money and connections and dirty tricks... STOLE IT! And it was never to be.
McCain will never be President now.
2008 was his last shot.

Bottom line for me: McCain = great man. Palin = ditzy, unprepared, ignorant. If you can't see the difference between the two then I don't know what to say.
You're wrong about Palin.
All she lacks is a little knowledge, and she is doing exactly what she needs to right now, to get it, and position herself for the future.
She is nobody's dog.
McCain's ass-wipes for advisers manhandled her, and kept her from being herself. Now when they are needing further employment in the next guy's campaign, they are exaggerating sh*t to make themselves look better, and writing books with half-made-up sh*t to get some money in their pockets.
She was being sued every other day in Alaska by people who are pissed off that she gave McCain such a boost, making the obvious (anything but a Republican) not so obvious anymore.
So she left the Governorship, feeling it was wasting the tax-payers money having to deal with seemingly daily frivolous lawsuits, not to mention her staff, doing nothing but fielding phone calls every day for media requests, etc...
Palin did the right thing.
In removing herself as a target... she protected her state, and removed them from the controversies and wasted government money, spent defending her against all these ridiculous charges, of which EVERY ONE ends up getting thrown out, but only AFTER the expense of lawyers (state paid) and depositions filed, etc...
It allowed her to promote her book, consider her options, and set herself up for the national stage, and this time... ON HER TERMS!
She thought McCain's handlers were inept and made bad judgements.
She is out from under their shadow, and out from under the tax-payer's responsibility, and can be her own woman again.
She's making worthy and deliberate moves for the future.
She's not going anywhere.
She wants to serve her country in time of confusion and crisis, and she wants to show, people who just repeat, made-up party-line mantras about her, that they don't know a damn thing, and she is about to prove them all wrong!
Go Sarah!!!
