Hi Sans from Mark in the UK.
I remember hearing all these songs when I first joined the site around a year back, and thinking it was decent and pretty unpretentious for god-rock type stuff.
I think I loved its earthiness then, and even now it still has a basic appeal.
I have to say though, that this time I was left just a little cold... it sounded to have dated rather tonight; there again when I listen to my songs from not long back I mostly cringe thinking Christ did I do that?

I have found I have a bit of an aversion to songs where tho opening line of four chords is played through four times as an intro that leads irrevocably to the singing... as good an intro as any I guess, unless you look at what J Hendrix did with all his intros!
I struggle in my stuff to find a phrase of music that perfectly sets the tone of the song, but I really believe the intro leads you to the essence and spirit of it all.
Shalom guys,
Mark.....................

Hey Mark, good to hear from you man.
Our music is really simple, based on old rock style progressions.
Consider though, Ray and I have been playing guitar since only 2005, so dont expect anything complex. Good catch phrasing for intros have evaded me thus far. Perhaps as I gain experience as a guitarest this will change. I do have my doubts due to the fact I really dont hear those in my head like I do the main body of the songs.
The music we have posted is dated in other ways as well. We now have two vocalist, and many more songs. Much of whats been posted has been revised and updated in our live performance.
Another short comming as a band is our failure to get better produced more representative recordings of how we sound now.
We are working on that little problem as time and finance allows.

Thanks for the listen, and the time to comment.

Hi George,
Nice to hear from you... and I hope my thoughts didn't come over as deliberately harsh; it is quite hard to get the tone right across the pond as the American way is much more generous and to say always the positives; in the UK I think we tend to say it like it is rather.

That sounds wrong in a way, as it is the Americans who have the reputation for saying it like it is, but when commenting on someone's efforts like with a song or something they are much more kind than us embittered Brits!

Friends tell me my songs are dull and depressing: like Bert Jansch apparently! I have never heard his stuff! But yes they are still my friends and over here insulting eachother is almost an art form.

You are doing much better than me if you only been playing guitar since 2005 George... I started at fifteen years and now I'm fifty three... and not much better than I was back then.
I started a song called 'Goodwyn's Road' when I was 19 years old, and have just got back to it and finished it this month!
Funny to be hearing the words again as I work on it... back then I was a 19 year old postman with the hots for a girl on the Goodwyn's round who was I guess 15 years then; but carrying on at the same song now it just all comes back as if she might still be waiting in some strange way!

In some ways both our songs are about religion; mine is the religion of life and hopeless speculation on lost chances... we are both afflicted by a yearning for something imperceptable and just beyond reach I guess!

Shalom brother!

Not at all Mark.
I enjoy your comentary on my music for two reasons.
First: It makes me think and reflect on how it came about, and how it came grow and improve as the Band progresses.
Secondy: It means your listening. :D

Peace Brother. 8)

George, Mark makes a good point. With 2 guitarist, you might try using some sort of basic blues riff to have a "hook" on your songs. Over the first few chords I would try to think about the vocal melody and maybe try to mimic it on guitar with a slow simple riff. You dont have to shredd just somethiing simple, honest and to the point to get the song rolling.

And as I said in another post maybe try to put a little 8 bar change in the middle of your songs to kind of lead up to the last chorus or verse.

I do have to complement you guys for sticking to it and keeping a solid lineup together. These days that say s a lot. I also think its great that you share your songs to get ideas, lots of people are scared to put their stuff out there, including me, ha ha.

And last since you are a Christian Rock band try to glorify God in what you do and have fun with it.

John:
I have thought about getting Ray and Tony to give me some vocal "notes"
to work with in order to work out some intros.
I did not know really if that is how it's done.
When we get through hashing out the main bodys for the last 5 - 6 new songs I 'll work on that idea. Kind of falls in with my lead riff practice sessions as well. Too bad the boys are so far dispersed, I could play 8 days a week.
Thanks for the ideas and props.
I love to play, and I always have fun!!

Hey guys n gals !
I hesitate to post this as you have all heard it before.
You know, studio this, studio that, studio the other thing, bla bla bla.
Being as I already breached the subject in another post, I am going to throw this out there.

We have a studio date booked at the end of the month to begin our four song demo CD so that we can develop our promotional pack.
Any prayers or "good vibes" sent along our way will be appreciated by the boys and I.

When I have the completed recordings in hand, all the home recording mess will be replaced by the studio cuts.

If all goes well, I intend to have a full CD of our music by late summer.
I could think of little that would please me more than a combination CD release and 50th birthday party in August.

Thanks Phil.
I am not all that concerned about being in the studio.
Just getting there with everyone intact and healthy.
