Miracles by definition defy natural laws.
Being hit on a bicycle by a speeding car, and having the force to spin me and my bike around 360 degrees, yet landing as soft as a feather, with no bump, no feeling of impact... That defies any natural laws I know of.
I also consider my wife telling me IN HER SLEEP to put my seatbelt on (something she would NEVER do) which saved my life when I collided with a semi-truck only a few minutes later? That is a miracle, or it would have to be one hell of a series of coincidences.
And the look of shock on that old man's face, not because he hit me... he was staring about 5 feet or so above my head... I wouldn't be surprised if there was an angel there that day, and he saw it.
I say that, not only because of where he was staring with his jaw dropped, but also because I HAVE SEEN ANGELS BEFORE! And it gave me that very same expression and emotion. It startled the living bejezus out of me, and my heart beat so hard as I watched them, that I felt as if my heart was beating literally 5 inches or more out of my chest. I can't even describe that feeling accurately... I was terrified that I was gong to have a heart attack, and that if I looked down at my chest, I would SEE my heart literally beating OUTSIDE my chest. That is how it felt, but I couldn't look down to check. I was FROZEN! I couldn't move... I couldn't say anything... I couldn't take my eyes off these beings, until they flew up through the ceiling and departed.
I had never seen anything like that before, and I have not seen anything like it since.
The Bible details someone literally DYING of shock, when they saw an angel face to face.
It is a shocking, yet amazing, experience.
Your heart is beating as if you are terrified, but it is not FEAR really, that you are feeling, but shock. You don't feel like you are going to be harmed by them, but the experience is other-worldly and shocking and amazing!
And Sans T-Boning a vehicle like that, flipping that high in the air, and nothing broken? Nothing sprained? Only a bruise or two to show for it?
Sounds miraculous to me.
I supposed adrenaline could account for some of that? I don't know. But Sans is the nurse. I am willing to bet he has seen his share of motorcycle victims coming through his hospital. If anyone would know that it is MIRACULOUS... He would!
But...
That definition, while basically accurate, lacks something to me. Not all miracles involve NATURAL LAWS. Some are fully spiritual. What I mean is, maybe a better definition is...
"Supernatural INTERVENTION in human affairs."
Miracles are not always Earth shattering events.
If God were to influence someone to be in a certain place at a certain time, that could very well be a miracle (supernatural intervention) though it does not necessarily defy any natural law. As far as the person knows, it was his own idea to change his plans, and then later maybe he finds that he would have been killed in an explosion or something, had he continued on to his original destination, rather than suddenly being struck with a sense that he should go somewhere else in that moment.
