HowlinJ wrote:Does all that apply to me and Jimmey D too?

No. Although more than a few here, could find some of that familiar in their own lives... I share some of it too... like the finding peace in music, and having that be a release, an escape, a place to find fulfilment and happiness... a therapy of sorts.

Crip is probably closer to this brother's personality than the rest of us.

HowlinJ wrote:I'm an agnostic from Pennsylvania and Jimmey is a self proclaimed agnostic from Michigan, (so it appears that we heathens are all over the place.)

LOL

Heathen simply means a person who does not accept the God of the Bible. Or an irreligious person. It's not an insult. He jokingly applied it to himself... I didn't call him a heathen. I don't judge people in that way, from a place of religious "superiority". If you've read any of my longer diatribes on my personal philosophy, then you know that I believe ALL PEOPLE are connected, a human family if you will, and that God loves us all, regardless of what religion we belong to, or whether we belong to any religion at all.

God is bigger than the religions and cultures we create for ourselves.

He tries to reach people, one on one, in our hearts.

HowlinJ wrote:And what might you say about Mark across the pond who once described himself as "A Jewish Atheist"! (strikes me as a bit oxymoronic, but what do I know?

Many Jews are not religious, and are even agnostics and atheists.

Judaism is a religion of the Jewish people.

Being born a Jew is an ethnic identity, and not merely a religious one.

HowlinJ wrote: "Every one's trip is different!"*

Absolutely.

And God (in my opinion) reaches out to us WHERE WE ARE. And deals with WHO WE ARE, as individuals and peoples. He cares about our HEARTS, and is much more flexible in his dealings with us as individuals, than many uber-religious people would like to believe.

I still love you all, so Happy New Year everyone!

That's a great word... LOVE.

And I know you mean it, and are not being casual about it.

Same to you brother, and may this be a wonderful New Year for you and your family, my friend.

Same to everyone else!

Well thank you brother!

I plan on listening to every one of yours too... you got a lot posted! :-)

But I watched both videos of your acoustic work!

Loved it.

I love rhythm like that, and the tones and chord changes, are right up my alley brother! It was actually making me wish that you lived in Georgia or Florida (I'm in Saint Mary's, GA but only 25 minutes from Jacksonville, FL) cause it has what I often refer to as "Flying Music" where you feel like you are soaring or flying. It brings alot of peace, or an elevated lofty feeling, that lifts the soul. I write stuff like that too (should post some of it) and probably for the same reasons.... It makes me feel good! Takes me to another world! Hard day, some asshole rubs me the wrong way... and... where's my guitar!!! Cause that feel, clears out the cobwebs pretty fast!

Really enjoyed it.

Wish I could have been jamming with you!

Have a great New Year brother, and if you ever switch sides of the country...

;-)

Wow!

Started going through your songs.

Hell yeah!

Move to Georgia man. LOL

Very tasty writing and melodies, and nice playing and vocals too.

I like the Classic Earthy Rock riffs.

Listening to the second one now...

"This Life" ... is absolutely beautiful, my friend.
Well done, arrangement and all.

I'm impressed.

I could listen to stuff like this all day.

Third one playing... hell... this isn't work at all. ;-)

Good stuff brother!

Thanks, man.

"Train" is a cool song; You can hear the Chooka-Chooka-Chooka.

I really like your song "Falling Down". Good stuff-- nice and heavy.

Hey spaceman1, NICE steelhead pic. Trout are certainly high on my list of gamefish. I've caught rainbows, brookies, browns, and golden trout. They all have different personalities. Of those four I think rainbows fight about the hardest. They certainly jump the most. Browns are the hardest to catch by far. Brookies are easy to catch but they taste the best IMO. Goldens are very similar to rainbows. I never did fish for and catch any salmon. Did you know they are REMOVING hydroelectric dams in the northwest because alternative energy sources are coming on-line (solar, wind, etc.) and making the hydroelectric obsolete? I believe they have removed about seven of them, all on rivers that were once full of salmon. They are expecting a giant increase in salmon populations within ten years. I couldn't be happier about that...

I didn't know that. The Feather River at Orville, CA, is one of my favorite place to catch salmon. There are Kings in there that are 50lbs and better. I've been embarrassingly spooled many times there. I generally use 20lb. test with a 10lb. leader, sliding red beads, and a bare hook. Those things are so fun to catch. I've had them rip through the bottom of my net, slap water in my face, and disappear. Ha! They're monsters! :D

Well I play acoustic guitar and sing mostly my own stuff. I don't have a collection of music like you do online. but I posted a picture of myself and I listened to your stuff that you played on the twelve string and I liked it.

So I thought I would say hello and see what happens next. I read what you wrote about recording some music and going on the road. It wouild seem like a dream to do that . I have no license to drive right now. I have no car either --just a dream like a lot of others.

Hey Jim.

I've seen your profile. No car is a serious hindrance. Having some tour experience just means that I rode in a bus with a few other smelly dudes. Our singer had the feet from hell! Ha! The agony of de-feet! :?

I'm always looking. Do you play any open mics? I was dropping in at Alchemy to play some King's X songs on acoustic from time to time, but stopped going. They still doing the Tuesday night thing over there?

Craig, You are a heavy dude man. I admire your thoughts on music and religeon. You have a bad ass look and back it up with a great voice and good writing. Not to mention your recording ability despite your drum sounds (ha ha). Wish you were near VA. Your friend PAUL.

Thanks so much for the kind words... well...

Despite the fact that alot of others are thinking... "Dumbass!!! He'll never stop talking about religion and God now!!!"

LMAO!

But sincerely, thank you brother.

I want to get to a good place in this journey called life... I just want to bring as many as I can with me!

IT REALLY IS... the world we all make it.

I choose to believe we can make it better, and hopefully to inspire others that.. TOGETHER.. we can do just that! :-)
