Musician Gordon Peterson is reportedly suing Eddie Vedder after the Pearl Jam singer covered one of his songs.

Vedder recorded a version of Peterson's tune 'Hard Sun' for the Into the Wild movie soundtrack. Peterson is now suing Vedder for changing some of the track's words, says the New York Post.

In the suit, Peterson alleges that "Vedder altered certain key lyrics of 'Hard Sun' . . . eroding the integrity of the composition".

Peterson also claims that Universal licensed the tune without his permission. He is demanding all profits from the "acts of infringement".

Vedder's lawyer said that Peterson has no basis for a copyright infringement claim.

LOL

He eroded the integrity of his own composition ever time he played it. LOL
Wonder if you can sue yourself and collect from the insurance agency.

How convenient that they waited to sue until the song had run its course and made as much money as it could. The lawsuit is frivolus; there's no law that says you have to cover a song exactly as it was originally performed. For example, women often sing "men's" songs and change the lyrics to fit the gender and vice versa. Personally I like Eddie, he's the best vocalist from the 90's. His version of "Last Kiss" is awesome.
