* The end of the 60's saw the end of The Beatles and Hendrix and the rise of Sabbath and prog rock

* The end of the 70's saw the end of prog rock and the rise of punk and new wave

* The end of the 80's saw the end of hair metal and the rise of grunge

* The end of the 90's saw the end of grunge and the rise of the singer-songwriters like Jack Johnson, David Grey and John Mayer

As this decade ends one wonders what will be the next major theme? Maybe you??

BTW I will be listening to the 40th anniversary of Band of Gypsys tonight.

I've noticed each passing decade, the 'new' sound is increasingly duller (boring?) than the generation before it.

But maybe that's my dad talking as he just didn't like that gosh darn loud rock n roll stuff... lol

You skipped 2000

It's 2010 now.

You didn't tell us what 2000 was all about.

The music has sucked so bad this last decade, that I need your help, cause most of it was forgettable!

What was 2000 about?

I'm trying to follow the pattern here damn it!

Oh never mind...

I just remembered...

It was that Emo sh*t wasn't it?

I heard a few different explanations of and differing opinions on whether we're headed into a new decade or not. You can look at it both ways. I believe we are headed into a new decade: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004,2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, that makes TEN years beginning with "2", therefore 2010 is the beginning of the next decade. Just my simpleton mind trying to explain it.

I am setting here watching Billboards New Years Eve. The Wife and I have come to the conclusion that we are officially old for the first year of my life I can honestly say I can't relate to the music, well I kind of liked Green Day but I just couldn't stomach Britney Spears.

I did get something from you in the mail brother, but it was just a soggy wet empty cardboard box.

Well, I think it used to be a cardboard box?
