Nothing new about this argument.
The possession of riches in and of themselves I feel is irrelevant.
It is mainly a concern for those whom get strung out on good works being salvation or evil deeds being damnation.
Jesus is salvation.
It's just too simple for most theologians to grasp.

The royal bloodlines of both his (earthly) parents would argue that he was probably not a poor guy by any stretch of the imagination.

Historically speaking only. The Romans were adept at occupation. Those whom were wealthy were generally kept very close to the vest when they were indeed allowed to retain their worldly goods. Rome was not know for allowing the free travel of it's occupational citizenry. And if indeed Mary and Joseph were responding to a decree for census. A small donation from their coffers into that of the Governor would have spared them a trip on their ass.
As well the statement made by what I would assume to be an overly fed professor of some stripe or another as to the "poor eating their donkey" is utterly ridiculous.
No one of right mind in an agrarian culture is going to eat their primary beast of burden. A Most foolish statement pretty much discounts anything else that individual has to say IMO
So far removed are we from the realities of life and death?

There's an old saying: You can't take it with you. Has there ever been a person who has spread MORE priceless riches after his death for as LONG as Jesus? He didn't take it with him, he gave it to us and we have spread it forward for 2,000 years. His wealth was apparently limitless...

Does it matter?
I love anything history related, I feel part of it. I need some bones, some artefact, some credible evidence so I can understand that better?

Windy here, hate the wind. Makes me moody.

Nor has any person had more wars, deaths, and genocides attributed to his name than any other...

Just pointing out the flip-side to that coin.

Yeah, some pride, a lot of ego, but I always thought 99% of the worlds problems are attributed to greed.

Capitalism is a economic system based on greed.

Man, we're screwed.

I disagree slightly in the semantics of it all.
Geed yes big problem.
Capitalism as a financial / trade system in theory without the effect of greed / evil would be flawless.
But then most any system minus greed / evil would be flawless.
So

Yea, were screwed.

IMO capitalism decays more slowly into a ruling class / slave scenario than any other governmental system yet attempted by man.
Hopefully it can be renewed with much less blood shed than lesser systems.
Perhaps not.

Key word there Kramer.... "attribibuted"

And "attributed" by whom?

People who are clueless about world history.

Atheists (unscrupulous ones) have MADE UP, out of COMPLETE BULLSH*T, the idea that most wars and conflicts in the world are religious in nature.

That is just pure BULLSH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I PROVED quite handily, that this was BULLSH*T just a few months back, by detaling the worst wars and genocides in history, the ones which claimed the largest numbers of lives, and virtually NONE of them was religious based conflicts.

American Civil War (still the war Americans lost the most lives in)
World Wars I and II
Genocide in Rawanda

And I detailed so many others.

NONE... NOT ONE... Had anything to do with religious disputes.

The fact is, that the ATHEISTIC philosophy of COMMUNISM ultimately has caused more deaths in conflicts than ANY OTHER movement, political system, or anything else!

Why do I say that?

Because TENS OF MILLIONS of people were killed and executed by Communist regimes worldwide. Many estimates are between 50 Million to 80 Million murdered.

What is one of the most often quoted examples of people murdering in the name of religion though? "The Spanish Inquisition," where people were tried as heretics, and most recanted and others were punished or put to death.

Number of executions?

Between 3,000 to 5,000

That's right... Three to Five - THOUSAND.

NOT TENS OF MILLIONS.

So go ahead, and spout false information because you hate and don't understand the value of religion historically, but you are LYING when you do so. So go ahead, be DISHONEST and help SPREAD DISHONESTY, for the cause of a personal vendetta.

But, if there is such a thing as Karma... WATCH OUT!

Facts are readily available.

But it just must be more rewarding somehow to just MAKE SH*T UP!

But this only makes the fibber, appear foolish and uneducated, once someone pulls out actual FACTS, as opposed to FALSE GENERIC STATEMENTS like...

"More people have been killed in the name of religion than anything else!"

Funny how after that statement is made, none of them, not one, quotes actual statistics to back it up.

There are plenty of F*CKED UP things which religions can be rightly blamed for.

You don't need to make something up.

Anybody not happy and gratefull for what he has can't be happy with more. Thats why rich people are usually the most unhappy people out there. I think were all here too short of time to spend it all worrying over how much they don't have. The smile on my new grandsons face this morning proved that to me. As for Jesus I know in my heart all I need to know ! :)

Craig, you are citing things that cannot possibly be counted.

No more can I PROVE that more people died by religion than you can PROVE that more people died by communism.

There's no sense arguing over what we both already know.

Both of them kill lots of people.

who killed more? who cares?
