Okay, I've been buying clothes for many a year. I know what size I am, or at least I THINK I know.

Why are all the pants I buy too long?

From the 70's onward, I've worn a 34 inch inseam. Now I find that that size is rarely available. I recently bought 2 pairs of pants, one with a 30 & one with a 32 inch inseam. The 32's are way too long...like about 2 inches too long. WTF? I'm still 6'2" tall. My torso is no longer than it used to be. I can only assume my legs have gotten no shorter. Yet here I am, walking on my pants like a ragamuffin with someone's hand-me-downs that are too big.

Am I stupid? Do I not know how tall I am? What the hell has changed?

Is it an urban "drop your pants like a plumber to show off your boxers" kinda thing? Am I wearing my clothes wrongly? Why is the world continually messing with my stuff? My cigs are ruined. My pants are all wrong. It's a frikken conspiracy, I tell ya! Someone out there is flookin' with my headbone & it's pissin' me off!!!!

Have I officially reached curmudgeonhood?

You get shorter as you grow older but I don't think that's it really? I'm thinking that since the USA is still using Pounds/Inches and so on and that clothes are made everywhere other than the USA i.e imported. There is probably someone out there with a bad conversion tool perhaps? :D

Where's my yard stick!!

There really is no universal standard of measure. So many foreign manufactured goods too. They don't care if your clothing fits as long as you pay too much for them and continue to buy them.

OMG Philby, you are sooo right-

I've been a 32 my whole life (well, since about 16 years old)...

And all the sudden, 32's are getting all frazzled on the heels cause they drag!

Now I'm a 30.. wtf?

I think it's because everyone wearing the jeans halfway down their asses, the fits are not designed to hike up as far, so we lose that couple of inches that used to be higher up our waist.

Kids... argh.

Due to extreme, stressfull situations, I'm back down to my high school weight of 148  .... When I first met my wife 8 years ago, I was about 40 lbs. heavier... My problem is when I'm in a stressfull situation, I tend not to have an appetite and this year brought on more stress than I've ever experienced in my life! :?

It's funny - depending upon the style, I've worn pants from a 34 to 35 inch inseam over the last 39 years. The bell-bottoms of the 70's were 35's. When they went out of style, I went to the 34's in straight legs. Now, however, the pants I buy vary quite a bit. Sometime 30's are perfect, sometimes 32's. I'm 6'2", & have been since around '72, & my legs have been static for all those years, but the styles & the manufacturers have seemed to have lost thier yard sticks, cuz nearly every pair I buy anymore seems a random length. I'm just glad that they don't end up being floods, as we used to call them in the olden days.

I guess I'll hafta start trying everything on like a girl before I buy. Damn I hate doing that. I like to go to a store, look at a label, & buy what I want & go home & have it fit. This damned global market is flooking everything up, & it'll prolly continue until someone teaches those damned uneducated third-worlders how to use a tape measure.
