Who can tell what time signature the main riff in Zeps Kashmir is?

I believe there have been debates over this a time or two.

depends on how many BPM you consider the song to be.

One instance puts it in 4/4 (slow bpm)
other (in my opinion) faster bpm would put it in 3/4

BUT.. all songs are essentially in x/4 or x/8 patterns in the end anyways, so technically, it's all 4/4 if you slow the beat down enough

It's 3/4 time, the tuning is DADGAD and the fills are from the Maqam scale Hijaz

Its actually polyrythmic in my opinion.
4/4 time for the drums, but the riff is in 7/4 in my opinion if you count the rests as 'notes'.
So 12/8 time or 12/4, which technically is a funky way of playing 3/4.
But to say its in 3/4... meh... I dont agree with that.

Maybe I'm just completely off the mark!

Gol dang it...
I needs to go back to school and learns to add!

its 7/4 over 4/4. Pollyrythmic.

Forget all that nonsense I typed earlier.
:-p on the 3/4 believers.

Paul, I want to hear you do Kashmir

Generally music is either triple time or duple time or a combination of the two as in this instance.

OK Zip,
Now I got one for you and all the Bandmixerino time masters.

Some years back, I was listening to my favorite Sting album, "Mercury Falling" and when this song came on , My wife said "What kind of weird time is that drummer playing!"
My response was...
I have no Friggin' idea!

any suggestions?

Did you mean "easy" to figure out what it is, or "easy" to play?

The next time I get to audition a drummer, I might just throw that at 'em!
