This post is pretty inspirational Bobby thank you. Yes you are right its a haven out there today isn't it. Mind and you know I really miss my real 2 real. It was only a 4 track and had reverb that was pretty much it back then for me at least.

I think what I like about virtual recording is Keyboard sounds if I were truly honest. (Shocking I know). But to find depth in a song or create it for that matter and unless you have a wicked guitar player and again I've been fortunate in the past, those things called VST's are amazing.

That said what I've been doing of late are with redundant soundscapes and totally concentrating on the music vibe.

I'm not there yet, not by a long mile but I'm sure I'll get there when I need to. Many thanks again for sharing and the info. Pleasure to meet you.

I know what your sayin Chip. I enjoy live sound also, but today, With the pay scale for studio time, on any one of the songs I've written I wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm just a working stiff like everyone else. Actually, you can get any sound you want. I think its pretty cool that anyone who wants to put their material on CD can actually afford to do it. And have the sound come out half way decent. Better than those old tape days. I might say, it's a heck of a lot easier to edit material.
Keep workin on it Chip. Use the easiest way to get your music heard....

"it is what it is"

I like this song. The only thing I would change is the fight between the vocals and guitar. Realistically, the vocal is more important. Vocal is clear and understandable but the guitar is trying to take over, if that makes any sense? Allow the guitar to stop and "listen" to the vocal. Silence and sound accentuate each other. I don't know if that helped at all but I just wanted to offer my $.02.

Realistically it is a good song. You are running into the same problem as any anyone trying to record without a truly great drummer.
I am a crappy guitar player without a really great drummer. A so so drummer is not good enough.
You would be extremely suprised to find out how much better this track would sound with a really good drummer.

Sounds pretty good, needs some polish. Like others here it's not my kinda stuff, but sounds like a good song. I like the dirty guitar, but then again I'm an old hippie and I LOVE dirty guitars...If you back it off during the vocals only back it off a tiny bit, the mix is pretty good as is.

I hear nothing seriously wrong, overall it sounds good, just needs a bit of polish. Keep the lead simple and melodic like it is now, that works well for this song. It's one that would be excellent for a signature lick, something specific that just fits this song. That's not easy, and it's where Clapton shines. Layla, Wonderful Tonight, Motherless Children, Bad Love...Clapton has the knack for that, but if you listen to those songs you'll hear what I mean, they all have guitar parts that you immediately think of when someone mentions the song. That's what this song needs.

Vocals - Good harmonies, I think the harmony parts may be just a tad too hot. As I already said, nothing glaring, and very minimal adjustments. Good song, pretty decent mix so far, nice job.

I agree with Philby that the intro is to long.
Also, That Alises don't sound bad to me, but there are a few roll patterns that are way out of tempo. That would be an easy fix, and vastly improve the drum track.

All in all, I like it. I think the guitars sound great.
