However, when will you be putting up some of your music on your site?

If you have been told that you record better at live performances, have you recorded any such event but using pressure zone mics as a supplement to your normal 'studio' set up?

Capt. Scott, you should know as you appear to be the master of 'moan'.

Last I checked I had about six songs on my site. More on our myspace and on our official site. www.noisykungfu.com
All are amiture recordings. Most just practice cuts.
We have plans to make it in studio starting in January 2010.
I have no idea what a "pressure zone mic" is. But I will do some research.
We have only been recorded live once. That was in a Church we played a few years ago. Much has changed since then.

A PZM is a type of microphone which works as a piezio electric device. All microphones work on air pressure but, as a conventional mic, basically, uses the forces due to air pressure to move a diaphragm which in turn influences an electro magnet to transmit electrical impulses (just the opposite to a speaker), the piezio device uses a material which creates its own electricity when under fluctuating air pressure. The PZM works very similar to a barometer (only much faster). Using these types of mics, say two or four positioned on the perimeter of the stage, will capture full stage sounds that will be much nearer to what the audience actually hears. Then, when it comes to mixing/editing, you have a very helpful friend.

The above was only a simple introduction but I do hope that it has helped.

Your descripion was more than adaquate. It does bear some more research on my part. Thanks for the heads up.
I believe the main reason we sound better live is #1 the energy of a live show. #2 Our home recordings are just that. For the most part recorded right off the monitor mix of the PA, and intended to be just "study tools" for the band.
The PMZ option for capturing some of our live material sounds intiguing.

Thanks for you reply, I did not mention that sometimes in the USA these types of mics are referred to as 'Boundary Microphones' for the reasons I explained earlier.

Sounds like fun......cept being jailed for going heeled.
That I fear could be a real drag.
We're a local band with a local mission. Somehow I think our particular style would not go over real well with continental types.
