I buy something extravagant almost every Black Friday. Went to Sears and bought a new oven with all the bells and whistles. Now I can sing the first verse of Shake, Rattle & Roll to my wife every day "Get out of that bed, wash your face and hands. Get into the kitchen make some noise with the pots and pans" Or better yet I can get into the kitchen and make some noise with the pots and pans. Sears was VERY BUSY. Don't know if all the people were actually buying anything but it hopefully is a good sign for the economy. Nice to see a Sears parking lot full for once...

i usually save up all my money for like 3 months so i can go on a shoping spree (to bad the only store i go in is guitar center) . LOL its weird when i go shoping for hours and all i come home with is new pedals, amps, slides, capos, and sometimes new guitars.

You LIKE Guitar Center? Last time I went to one I wasn't very impressed...

I'm at my mother and sister's place and we went today, had a few things we had to do and a couple of places they wanted to check out for the sales. It was a madhouse. Got my first look at windows 7 at best buy, wasn't that impressed. One thing for sure, I know I don't want a new laptop with all the crud they preinstall...

First time I've tried to do any shopping on black friday in years, I plan to make sure I miss it for a few more years. Couldn't find a parking place, huge ill mannered crowds in the stores, pushing and shoving, rude drivers...don't think it's worth it just to save a couple of bucks. Not to mention the Bing "gag me with a pitchfork" Crosby christmas tunes blasting from a PA system at Sears...YUKKKK....I didn't want to hear it to begin with, much less all the way across the parking lot. Unfortunately I have another month of it to endure...I won't be going shopping much until the 1st...

I won't shop on Black Friday. Can't stand the insanity :? I manage to help the economy just fine during this time of year without shopping the day after Thanksgiving.

Omg I won't even go NEAR a store on that day if it can be avoided at any cost! Why would I wanna subject myself to the very worst that humanity has to offer?

I had a great time on Black Friday!! Guitar store hoppin'.. The Sam Ash here in Vegas was a lot of fun. Great deals all over the place.

Oddly enough my biggest purchase was from the on-line Sam Ash direct site.

Check this out:

$50 off any purchase over $225
Additional 10% off Fender, Squier, Gretch, Guild, Jackson, ESP.

So I looked up Squier Classic Vibe guitars.

I got a Squier Classic Vibe '60s guitar from their website for $269 shipped. Free shipping, no taxes.

Best deal on the planet for guitars this weekend. If you haven't tried the Classic Vibe guitars, they are really impressive. Even Fender purists are saying so.
Especially for the price. You can't beat that deal anywhere. I would highly recommend the Classic '50s Tele too. the chunk of wood on that thing is as thick as a Les Paul. Bad for my back though.

So I had a nice Black friday.

I was this close to purchasing a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser as a back- up guitar when I realized, I want either another PRS or another LP so I'll slowly save up for what I really want and go for the real sales.... the after Christmas sales blow away the Black Friday sales... They are up to 60% off on some of the high end items as they just want them out of the store in orde to stock up on the newer models.... wait and see.... Black Friday sales are bullsh¡t!

I'm with Crip on the January "oh sh*t we owe taxes" sales.
Best thing I can do is hunker down and save my musical dollars for a trip to the studio. I'd like to have a pair of 2x12 cabs for my amp but, first things first right?

Happy Early Birthday Shredd.
I vaguely remember turning 40.
August will be 50 for me.
Hope to either have a big party with bands and stuff or do a week in the mountains, just me and my wife.

Thanks Sans..

Yea, save up for the studio time. I'm not sure I understand why you feel like you want another cab though. Is there a specific reason?

On the Jan Sale thing, I'm not so sure CV's can drop much lower. Maybe another $10, but Squier CV guitars are made to Fender specs for the most part, and with the same quality.

There are slight differences between CVs and Fender RIs though. The Teles are made of Pine, but you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between their use of dense Pine and Ash though. And they are sticking with a 9 1/2 neck radius. There are too many people who just don't care for the 7 1/2 that my '57 Strat RI has. Fender kinda gave up on that a while back for production guitars. Not enough of a difference to account for paying an extra $400-$1,000 in my opinion.

I compared a CV '60's with a real Fender '60s RI model at Guitar Center yesterday, and literally could not tell the difference. That says a lot for the CV.

And let me say this also. I have a '57 RI Strat which at the time it was made in 1984 was THE top of the line Fender production model. And the craftsmanship of the Squier CV '50s Strat was CLOSE ENOUGH!! In fact... The neck was better. It uses a C-shape instead of a V-shape, but modern technology has made it so the precision of neck shaping and fret-work can be flawless. I'm not going to yank your chain and tell you that a CV is the same as a '57 RI, but with about $200 in mods, and some know-how you would be very close to it, and just as happy.

Check out the cost of a '57 RI:
http://www.guitarstop.com/Fender/57strat.htm

The 7 1/2 radius neck is overrated. And some people prefer a c-shape over a v-shape. It's more comfortable to do the "claw method" on a c-shape.

These CVs are NO JOKE!! They are for real in the quality craftsmanship department.

Dang Shredd for some reason I thought you were a lot younger, your part of the old farts club Dude, anyway Happy Birthday! Its sure beats the alternative.

I took off tuesday with the GF and we went to Gatlinburg TN. Went into the park and got shots of 2 wild black bears, went to Sweetwater Tn to a place called the lost sea. Its a big cave that has an underground lake in it. Thanksgiving day we went to Ober Gatlinburg which is the ski slope area. They had a big Thanksgiving Buffet and we ate looking out a big window at the mountains. While we were eating it started snowing for about 20 minutes, was great being with my baby eating turkey and watching it snow. Of course at night we found all the local hotspots and danced almost every night. We drove home on Black Friday thru Pigeon Forge, which is full of shops and outlet centers, It looked like they were busy, which as Bob says is great for the economy.

I dont really have any equipment on Christmas list this year, strange, Im pretty much taking off from music til after the first of the year other than some more recording.

For some reason I cant get my player on here to take soem of my newer music, once I figure it out I will put up some acoustic stuff.

You guys have a Great Day!
