Craig - I held off on listening to this, cuz I wanted to give it a chance, but I had this thing in my head that I was just gonna slam the hell out of it. Most "rock remakes" make me wanna puke, cuz they're so often done poorly, & lose the spirit of the song in the urge for flash.

That being said, I'm finding myself very pleasantly surprized. In fact, I gotta admit that this is fantastic!

I've always loved this song, cuz it embodies the hopes & dreams of anyone trying to make it in "the biz" (with apologies to Shredd). I also dearly love the jazzy version.

You have managed to hold the spirit & yet say it in your own voice, & it's one helluva powerful voice, at that.

It still needs that key change, though, ya flunky! (I HAD to pick on ya for something....but that statement just feels a little weak when it's compared to the quality of this performance!)

I don't even mind the fade-out. It just seems to fit. Still, I'd like to hear a solid ending, cuz I really do prefer them.

Really, Craig - THIS IS TOP-NOTCH!!!! Keep at it, man. You're blowing my mind, here.

Phil,

That means alot. It's kind of overwhelming. After one group of guys (my old band) try to steal my own original songs, and use them WITHOUT ME... And then to have a group here, of musical peers, that I respect, give such approval... wow... I could cry. Really. Cause I actually questioned myself for awhile, you know?.... "If these guys can let me go so easily.... maybe I'm not as talented as I thought I was?"

But you guys are keeping me in the game here.

You don't even know.

And I'm truly appreciative!

You can't believe how ultimate this guitar sounds. This is a Blues machine!! But it appears I have a Tone pot going south. I've had this guitar for 25-years. It's the first electric guitar I ever owned.

I really loved your cover of this song man. That freaking voice!! Just keep at it man. Your day is coming.

Hey Bob, Your comment about covering and doing a song your own way is so right on .
I like it when a great player like Bob stops fishin' for a moment and posts something of thought .

Here's a vid of me and my '57. I was just noodling around a little to test it out. The buzz you here is from me having to sit on the amp, and the light I was using in the room. In actuality, it's pretty quiet. But you'll get the picture of what the guitar sounds like.

That was cool.

If I heard that in a dark auditorium, I'd be happy.

Love your 57 tones..absolutely.

Great job, as usual Craig!,

I wouldn't worry about Benson's arrangement, since he was just covering the tune anyway.

I especially dig the wolf whistle @ 1:09!

You is one creative bastid!

If your takin' requests, I'm still waiting for a new and improved version of "It's No Crime"....
later,
J
