I heard that the U.S. government is considering using TARP and/or stimulus money to reduce the national debt! I'm not kidding! That's like paying off a credit card with another credit card, where the second credit card is with a Chinese company that's buying up gold because of the dollar's value being reduced to nothing. Can anybody say HYPERINFLATION? HOW THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO PAY FOR NATIONAL HEALTH CARE? With a second stimulus, third stimulus, BEG the Chinese to pay for it? THIS IS REALLY PISSING ME OFF...

Can't borrow your way out of debt. And they know it. Getting out of debt is not what there are doing. The big lie continues.

so we borrowed a trillion bucks from the banker's and handed it back to them, and now we're going to borrow some of it back from them and pay interest on our own money twice....
Boy I'm glad we have the fascist looking out for us!

Rev, your right to some extent, but the Chinese do depend on the strength of our economy and buying power to fuel their own growth. When we falter it hurts them also. Plus they are a developing country, their only strength is the cheap labor they have, as these people start seeing the good life that other parts of the world have the work ethic will change and thier wages will go up. This cycle is way faster these days than it used to be.

If you are going into some sort of heavy business or government, learning Chinese would help, good point

They are not going to use TARP money to pay any part of the deficit. For Christ's sake TARP is part of the deficit. Whatever you may think of them they are not that stupid. Source for this information please... This is sort of like saying, pictures or it didn't happen. What is the source, (not stated by you), for your statement?

The deficit can only be addressed one of two ways, raise taxes or cut the budget. Doing either one during these economic hard times would be the wrong thing to do. Let me venture the view that these economic hard times can and should be laid at the door of the last administration, or have you all conveniently forgotten that just prior to September of 2008, that it was president Bush, John McCain, Ben Bernanke and every other republican in sight who were saying, "the fundamentals of the economy are strong". They were wrong. You recall this happening? Yes? No? Or did your world just start yesterday?

You are all correct when you say that you cannot end a crisis of heavy debt by adding more debt. However, your solution is what? Cut the budget, provide no unemployment, no food stamps, no money to put people to work even temporarily? How about raising tariffs? Will bringing on the real third world war do it for you? I see lots of complaints and not one single solution.

It can readily be seen that the rate of job loss, running at 600,000 + in January of 2009 has slowed to 190,000 last month. Not good but certainly better than January. Will it last? We should hope for that but unlike many here, I read the facts, not make them up or go with some conspiracy theory that can't be vetted either.

If you have a political philosophy that informs your vote then you are passing political science 101. If you are chasing headline after headline, and every conspiracy theory you are being had and you are failing political science 101. Its our political system. You can use it to your advantage, if you know what is really to your advantage or you can run away from it and leave it to be exercised by those who really do not have your interests at heart, whatever those interests might be.

All I know is I have a friend that is 1 generation removed from China. According to him, they think they are so superior to us it's just a matter of time before they invade and take over the USA.

That's a scary thought considering they lent us $.

Interesting Cap'n. China have the biggest land army in the world and are constantly enlarging it. I asked a friend here some years ago what he would really do if he heard that some Army had landed near Miami and were moving in land?

He laughed.

Nothing is impossible to my mind though. I don't however see that as an immediate threat, more at home right now than anything else with all these sudden doomsday spectres apparently saving us from something they in fact are selling a sequel to.

The fact that most people wanting to do the US harm are usually in good positions job wise normally, that's how they gain access. It's common sense, you need access to do harm.

Computers hackers, mainstream idiots, Religious nuts on Anti depressants, Kids reading comics and killing classmates after lunch. Sex fiends who cannot contain their habit and bury their doings in the woods, only to be caught and studied, then gain yet more access.

But so long as you have Life Insurance all will be well..................

Post 2 or my three. (I'm trying to cut down). :D

Call your congressman and ask him (or her) for a list of EXACTLY what the stimulus money has been used for. THEY CAN'T GIVE YOU ONE. The stimulus was supposed to be used exclusively for JOB CREATION. Obama was supposed to usher in an era of TRANSPARENCY. THERE IS NO TRANSPARENCY with this administration. They were talking about ANOTHER stimulus package, when the first one hasn't even been implemented yet. ASK YOUR CONGRESSMAN IF THERE WAS ANY CONSIDERATION TO USE PART OF THE STIMULUS PACKAGE TO PAY DOWN THE NATIONAL DEBT. Of course they will deny it but they will also deny you an EXACT list of what the stimulus has paid for and AN EXACT LIST OF JOBS THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED. The stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment from rising above 8%. Former Vice-President Joe Biden said WE UNDERESTIMATED. This administration is INCOMPETENT, as much or more so than the previous administration. The United States government is a JOKE. The national health care proposal if passed into law near its present form will be an unmitigated DISASTER. I could run this country better than the dumbasses who run it now, I'm not kidding. I feel like running for President...
