JW if you can't do it, no one can, right?

What are you shooting? Do you even own a .223/5.56 mm?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 929AAtr3kx

Is it a delta hbar? Is it even match grade? Bolt action or auto loader?

Don't tell me it's a break action, I might laugh so hard I'd pee.

I bet I can shoot your last hair off of that bald ass head of yours.

In short, don't be so quick to judge those you don't know, jerk off.

Oh and do buy a rifle that is slightly more accurate than you trying to puke in the waste can at 2:30 am.

I bet you get into a pissing contest with every mfer that you think you can get over on, hmm?

Maybe I am thinking 400 yards which is about 360 meters, my math sucks, but I know I can shoot. I grew up with firearms.

And that's a good thing, cause I love iron sights and shiny heads against the horizon.

How about you put an apple on your head and we'll give it a go?

Capt Im game, if you let me go first My AK47 needs to be shot.

You know your full of sh*t about that open sighted shot, dont ya?

I got no bones to pick with you, but when you put some bullshit up like that Im going to call you on it, just like you do me!

Around the house weve got a couple of .22, a .243, 30-06, the AK is what 7.625s if I recall, my son has a collection of old war rifles, some shotguns, a couple of blow guns, even some slingshots, Im sure Ive forgotten a few. I started shooting when I was 4 and Im 47 so Ive got a little experience there my friend. No biggie where I am you may have to defend yourself, so dont come knocking on my door and I wont come knocking on yours.

You just crack me up, I bet you would be fun to go bar hopping with!

60 grain Nosler Partition works wonders out of my Colt HBAR 5.56.
But out to 300m I would much prefer my 7.62 with 180 grain NP's
I know High Power competitors whom can shoot out to 1000m with a national match 5.56 and apitures, but they aint shootin apples.
My 15 year old son and I can both ring the torso size gong like the bells of St Marys to 300m with apitures once there are set up right. But it's got to be off a bench or prone.
I wish our club had a range > 300m I could shoot on. As it is we just use clays on the berms from 50m 75m 100m 200m & 300m
The 300m clays are pretty safe from us with apitures, but with my 1x4 Leupold scope and some spotting from my son I can occasionaly take one out.
My 14 year old with his Browning 308 and 3x9 x 40 scope, there'd be no point running. You,d just die tired.

George I think our local gun club that Im in MSSA has a 900 yard range. I dont ever try to shoot distances like that.

I shot one deer and dropped him in his tracks at a measured 225 yards one time with a 30-06, Im not sure what scope it has on it. But when deer hunting I generally stay under 150 yards. I dont want to just knick one, if I shoot it I want it to die right there.

My son is into distance shooting, tomorrow he and a coupld of friends are going to shoot trap. He is on a High School team and they start practice after the start of the year. Its a real pain because they cant take the guns to school so I have to meet him with his gun and hes only with me half the time. The rest is spent with his mom.

I'd love to join you boys in this hoop trip of clicking weapons while the cartridge loads, take aim and................

Actually I'll go down to the police office on Monday and see if what I've been told is correct? 6 Months to a year wait time on a licence?

BECAUSE.

Yesterday in the pouring rain policeman came hurtling through my garden one brandishing a pump action shotgun only feet from my window, several more followed him and although they caught who they were looking for no one came to my door telling me why this happened?

7 cars and an EMS unit for this one guy I think?

Guns are kinda cool in a way, I'd love to own one and do shooting practice but I think my worn out home made slingshot, my heavy flash-light and my rolling pin will be all that I have.

At the end of the day.......................

FYI We shoot shotgun slug at tea saucers at 300m, no scope.
(That might be 300 yards, but I don't think so. I'll check and get back to you)

If you can shoot that, you can shoot the open sight of a colt commander carbine if it's a heavy barrel and a match grade weapon.

You just don't hit it every time.

For people that think they have to hit the target with every shot I guess it's distressing, but I like a challenge. Thus I try to shoot further.

And I am not shooting any apple off of anyone's head at any range, that is unless I am shooting to miss.

And you can keep your AK with the same stock as any sks/euro-Chinese/Russian crap. I usually have to look pretty hard to find 7.62x49mm ammo, then again I am not even sure that's what they fire.

My buddy is saying 7.62x51mm. (Faq you, you don't even own an ak, Chuck)

In any case..

7.62 x 51 mm is the Nato designation 30 cal.
Same nominal bore and chamber diminsions as 308 Win.
You can generaly fire 308 win in a 7.62 x 51 chambered weapon.
But the 7.62 x 51mm Nato has a higher chamber pressure than SAMMI specs and should not be fired in a 308 Win chamber.
The same is true with .223 Remington and the 5.56 x 45 Nato.
Twist rate on military grade weapons generally run 1:7 to 1:9 inches.
The old Soviet Bloc 7.62 x 39R is what most AK AKM SKS type rifles are chambered in and is the ballistic sister to the 30-30 Win. (which by the way was the first smokeless powder round sold in the US) though the rifling twist is different to stabalise a spire point bullet of approx 139 grains in weight. I have rebuilt many of these weapons from probably 10 different countrys of manufacture. Their forte is reliability through simplicity and loose tolerances, and generally are not what one would consider an accurate weapon. Often their bore diameter can vary as much as from .307 to .311 so handloaded ammo can be more accurate as you can match bullet diameter to your bore dimension.
They are very reliable even under adverse conditions and a lot of fun to shoot.

Only thing I ever thought about an AK is it's nice to do "the 2 step".

(Hold trigger for 2 shots and let off)

Capt, I dont know why I even respond to you, Why? Cause you are one of the least credible people on here, I dont know your name? In two years youve got the same music posted that Mars Volta Sounding Freind 222? You never post any sort of pictures of your self or of you doing anything musical? You never post anything relevant, just personal rants? You dissappear for a few weeks and then come back in guns a blazing? HuH? You always seem to key in on me, I guess your just jealous cause your life is so lifeless or something.

The gun thing cracked me up. You said making a 400 meter open sight shot was no big deal, thats some funny sh*t there dude and anyone thats ever shot a gun in his life knows it. Then send me on some wiki deal to a forum where people are tlaking about guns. What the hell does that have to do with you? Nothing, anyone can pull up a source like that.

So I pulled out my AK which stays under my bed and laid it by my Lizard LP and took a picture just for you. The shell box says its a 7.62x39mm shell. I actually get them at a WalMart of all places.

The one thing about me Capt is I can back up anything I say. I dont just talk the talk, I do walk the walk. You might not like me, but I try to add stuff to peoples threads here on stuff I really know about. If I dont know about it I dont waste peoples time. Just because I dont like a certain genre of music doesnt mean its bad. It means I dont like it, no reason for me to slam it. Unlike you, I hope you have a lovely day

Thanks Glen for the props on my music, I guess thats why we are here?

Monday night Im going back into the recording studio and record vocals on Rock N Roll Ho and These Guns Are Loaded, Ive been working with them at home with these demos you are hearing. I gave these songs to our drummer to listen too and play drums too, but like me he has a hot new GF and Im not sure when he will make the time to do it.

I should have some mixes of the acousticy things I did to post the first of the week. Some of this acoustic stuff has some funny ass lyrics.

Sorry about my rant, but sometimes the Capt gets to me a little. It would be interesting to hang out with him for a couple of days and just see what the hell is there. I think from what I post Im pretty consistent with what I put up here and the people that have met me from here would probably back me up on that. Some folks Ive met like the Capt on sites nothinglike what they represent. But from what I ve seen of his post I kinda feel sorry for him. He lives in an apt or with his parents god forbid and is pissed cause life just hasnt been fair to him. The internet gives him a platform to be a bully bad ass and thats where he gets his kicks instead of doing or helping anyone with anything.

But still he adds spice to things for me and just cracks me up.

I hope that he gets something positive going in his life, cause he definitely has a very creative mind, if it was put to some use tht made music or art or something it would be killer, but the one thing Ive finally learned on my trip thru the Cosmos of my life, the only thing I can do anything about or change is me, and my place in the circle of life.
