jd - I've gone to your profile page, & if you are serious about contacting & being contacted, you should fix it in the following ways, imho -

A) Tell us in your profile what instrument you play. I can't even guess, cuz it looks like you need the entire band, here. Do you sing?

B) Put a sample of your playing on the page. Nothing speaks like a musical recording to somone seeking a musician. It doesn't hafta be perfect, either. Just give us an idea of your abilities.

C) Unless you're a stalker, it prolly isn't a great idea to build your profile around wanting to meet one person. Maybe Kris from Montreal ISN'T the best person for you, & the best one might look at your profile & decide you don't want him. Try to make yourself attractive to anyone who fits what you need. (Come to think of it, it prolly isn't a great thing to do even if you ARE a stalker...hmmmm...just THINK of those missed opportunities!)

D) Make the entire profile more complete. Fill in areas like equipment (do you have any?) & influences (have you ever liked a band's music before?) to let ppl of like mind see you more clearly.

Remember that your profile page is basically an advertisement, jd. If you look carefully at other profiles, it may help you build your own so that you can be found by that perfect band.

You don't mention having any experience, so I suspect that yours is kinda limited. That's okay, but tell us so. The more info you give us, the better. If you're just starting out, say so, & also tell us what steps you are taking to GET that experience, & to improve your skills.

Best of luck, & welcome to the forum, jd. Also remember that unless Kris is a forum regular (I am & I don't know him, so that's not a good sign) chances are that he won't see your pleas to find him.

Ten bucks ?
Thats all in the world thats stopping you from moving foreward in the realm of music.
Ten bucks ?
Smoke you do ? Whats a pack today?
A couch do you own ? Dig for change !!
Grandmas couch? Got any friends that own a couch?
Mow a yard, rakes some leaves, wash an old ladys dog.
If ten bucks is all thats stopping you from moving foreward you just dont want it bad enough.
As my old coach used to say:
Grab a root and growl or just give up!

You people are stoned!

Half of the people on here are 1 and out. That means they put up a profile with no music, never look at the forum and when they don't get a response in 24 hours, they leave forever.

I say, pay 10$, send to whomever you like and then cancel.

Can you send them a Money Order for 10$ and get 1 month?

That sounds like a plan!

Sit down... I have a story to tell.

A little over two years ago I was sitting in my basement with $$$ worth of guitars and equipment I had acquired over the years. I didn't practice regularly, I wasn't in a band and I didn't play very well. I would try and learn a song or two, play it poorly, get to a tough part and quit. That was my musical life.

Then I joined Bandmix. So did a guy near me. He paid the $10 and sent out some e-mails. I answered. We got together and next thing I know, we're hitting it off; jamming, learning songs together... He bought a P.A., and we started recruiting other musicians to form a band.

Not wanting to embarrass myself or let people down, I started practicing. I started upgrading my gear and selling off things I didn't use. I started to really focus on music and becoming a better player.

Here I am, two years later. I'm in two bands, playing music, practicing every day, and I've met a whole bunch of musicians in my area that I didn't even know existed. I've played a show, and the two bands I'm in now should be playing out regularly in a couple months... I've even started writing my own music and recording some of it.

I didn't pay the initial $10, but that first guy I hooked up with did. It could have been either of us that paid the $10. And it was totally worth it. I am in a place musically that I always wanted to be, but never figured on. I had never put this much time and energy into anything musical before. It was the small prodding of another Bandmix guy in my local area that started this snowball...

And I'm glad he did.

So pay the $10! You never know who you'll inspire to get off their butt and out of their basement!

Perhaps peeps have got a good deal here I'm sure they have but its compromising to tell someone who has just joined "POST SOME MUSIC". It's almost like a Pay to talk system otherwise you are not a real Musician and all that garbage we talked about before.

Some folks just don't know how to. I'm down to about 3 posts a day so far, there are other places, lots of them.
