I have 3 new song demos on my player, these are heavy guitar rockers in the classic rock vein.

I included a picture of my son racing his motorcycle this past weekend doing a big whip. He jsut scored a 31 on his ACT, hes 17 and a junior in HS. I never ask him to do his work he just does it cause he wants to.

Hes an incredible kid and I am a very proud father.

Yea Jimmy, my kids are so cool.

My son races dirt bikes and at one time was a national prospect in that area. We just realized that it wasnt a career choice, kinda like music for me. He shoots on the school trap team and last year was the top shooter on the team in the state championships, he is on the knowledge bowl team, he is an honors student in all the harder classes, he has learned 3 or 4 languages on his own, going to a local college for those cause the HS doesnt offer them. And dont get him started on politics, he would wear Craig or anyone on here out. He has aspirations to be a politician. My family has been very active politically in our area, I just dont get into that on here.

My daughter does very well on her grades. She is an accomplished singer, She recently auditioned for a major choir in the area. Didnt get in, it was wierd I took her and her friend to it. The other girl went in first and came out crying and freaking out. She wouldnt talk to me and ran out of the building, so here I am with this 12 yr old girl that I dont know and im responsible for. She had called her mom who was picking her up out front. So then I got worryed about my daughters audition. She came out grinning like a possum. I said how did it go, she said Dad I did as good as I could do, they made me do the piece of music that I liked the least but I nailed it. We found out she didnt make it and she was cool about it, she just said there will be others. She is in plays. She also can play the hell out of the piano and writes her own material and can just adlib better than I can. Instead of vegging out she has taught herself to crochet and knit, and makes hats and all sorts of stuff. So she is the artistic one.

Im just very blessed with my kids, sorry I didnt mean to start a kid brag fest but sometimes you just have to share this stuff.

Thanks for the props Jimmy and Keep On Rockin out in Michigan, Bro!

Philby those are just songs that i layed down waiting on other folks and they never came to the plate so I will finish them my way.

Thanks for listening. The ending of The GUn song is cool if you can listen that long, I love long feedbacky endings they make the songs for me sometime when you just freakout!

It sounds like you're playing in 2 different keys at the same time at around 1:40, JW. (Might be my flooked up ears, though) I like the way it all comes back together, though.

Way interesting snding, yes.

Good stuff, I recommend submitting those to some movie music listings on taxi. I can see "Guns" tracking over a major action scene and "Brave Soul" screaming onto the soundtrack just as a slasher flick comes to an end then playing over the credits as is, no lyrics for both. I know taxi has a shitload of posts for just that type of instrumental.

Ok, here's a thought for you John...

You probably have VIDEO of your son's bike jumps and races, right?

What about laying a rocking soundtrack down on your guitar, something all you, with overlayed tracks, something rocking.

And splice it with his footage!

Father and son.

Put it on YouTube.

Son jumping bikes, and dad providing the rocking rhythm to it!

HA HA, I posted this BEFORE I checked out your songs.

"These Guns are Loaded" would work for this.

When the song is completed, if you send me videos of him going nuts on the bike, I'll splice it all up for you!

Think about this bro... seriously!

Your son would get a kick out of it, and you could play in on DVD at parties, and family get togethers and such.

IF you decide to do this, get plenty of video, and close-ups of things, like the back wheel spinning dirt out, and of course jumps, lots of jumps, turns, wipe-outs if you have them, him and the bike riding from different angles, crowds cheering, high fives, etc...

I swear dude, I'll splice 'em into something cool.

DIGGIN' THE TUNES TOO... BTW!!!

I want to sing on them though! LOL

You're right up my alley on the riffs on "These Guns"

But you gotta high voice bro!

If we had hooked up 10 years ago (ok, 15 to 20 - LOL) we would have ruled the musical universe bro! Tasty riffs!

Keep 'em coming.

Lookin' forward to the final mixes.

Is "Guns" gonna have vocals?

.

Craig, my son races in a local series every year called the King Of The Hill, a few years ago I wrote and recorded a song called KOTH and its already on a bike video floating around somewhere.

That Gun song, Ive already got lyrics, its kinda like The End by the Doors, its about a lone gunman walking into a church and spraying the congregation and then walking down the street and the police taking him out, I dont know if I would want that on a video with my son.

Thanks I might take you up on doin something like that at some point if you have the ability to put it together, I dont personally and really dont have the time.

Yea Craig we coulda ruled the universe. I can njust sit down with a guitar and come up with riffs like these all day long, not that they are really that good or anything, but I can hammer stuff out. Lately Im getting some calls from younger groups to come in and spice up their tracks with wierd sounds. A lot of times I will suggest things and they will go tht wont work, but then we do it and its like a light bulb goes off in their head, the one thing about original music is that there are not hard and fast rules, just go for it and if it doesnt work do something else.

I had forgotten that Andy had these songs, we are going to get our drummer to put real drums on and then Andy will lay down a bass track and i will lay some vocals on.

Thanks everyone for listening to my gibberish. I hope some of you enjoyed these, but they are over a year old.

Philby, Ive never been one to worry about playing in or out of key. I use a whammy pedal on a lot of this stuff to get the freaky sounds and its really hard to nail a key with those things. I kinda like the harshness of being out a little at times. I wouldnt want to sound like NickleBack, well I guess I would if I got their paycheck.

But once again the stuff I write and record is personal stuff that is just a moment in time. Its not really meant for public consumption, in fact I listen back to some of the stuff on my player here and I would have to relearn the songs to even try to play them again. Its all disposable to me. I take it serious, but Im so used to people telling me how bad I suck at everything I do that its all a joke to me. As long as Im having fun doing whatever it is Im doing Im cool.

Thanks Glen, Ive never thought about being mainstream. My original stuff it just that to me. Original. In my stuff I just play what I want these days. I will be posting in the next week or so, Rock N Roll Ho and These Guns Are Loaded with lyrics and hopefully I can get our drummer in to put real drums on. These Guns Are Loaded Ive been working out the lyrics and its the heaviest most emotional song Ive ever written and believe me I ve been involved with some heavy stuff thru the years.

Also next week I will put up some acoustic strumming singer songwriter stuff Ive been doing. Some of it is pretty funny if you listen to the lyrics. I cross a lot of genres just messing around which is way cool to me. I dont want to be pigeonholed into being a "certain" kinda player.

But hey thanks for giving it a listen and rock on man!

VERY tasty guitar playing with power and precision. Looking forward to the vocals (Craig?) being added in some day...
